My votes go to those whose comments fit best the criteria laid out: The Garofalo--ready-to-eat stuffed crows on a platter--will be awarded to prominent individuals in the media and elsewhere whose histrionic predictions of doom and gloom before and/or during Operation Iraqi Freedom stand head and shoulders above all others for their shrillness, certainty, and apocalyptic ravings.

Leslie Stahl
R.W. Apple
Peter Arnett
David Hackworth
Simon Jenkins
Edward Said
Michael D. Higgins
Scott Ritter
Wesley Clark
Eric Margolis

The above are in the order they appear in the post.

The other nominees were equally revolting but tended to focus more on an anti-Bush mentality rather than on tactics or predictions of outcome. In fact most of the others conceded the fact that we would win (in some cases easily) but put us at moral equivalence to Saddam. IMHO, there could be another whole contest for the most ant-American, anti-Bush commentator.

Thanks for that reminder L_V_M. This is an 'histrionic prediction' award.

There are some who would qualify for the "Treason - Put 'em up against the wall Award" (Eason, and Petah); and some for the "Let's shoot down the Republicans and keep this political Award" (Pelosi, Conyers).

So I will keep my list with the 'doom and gloomies.'
