Easter religious services have featured prayers for an end to the outbreak.

To go along with the charts. What the red numbers mean etc.
* Includes number of deaths, recoveries and current cases
1. WHO accuses China of underreporting cases in Beijing
2. Includes suspected or probable cases
3. U.S.A. is only reporting suspected cases under investigation.
Numbers in red indicate an increase in the last 24 hours.
Numbers are not updated on Saturday or Sunday

From a link that aristeides provided on another SARS thread we learn that the China health minister was fired 24 hours after more accurate reporting in Beijing produced a 10-fold increase in SARS cases:
On Sunday, China increased its number of SARS cases in Beijing to 339, and added 402 suspected cases and 18 deaths. City officials had previously maintained there were only 37 cases in the capital and the minister had declared it "safe to travel to China".

Is this going to be the thread used today? :)

Suits me if this is the main thread. This one, comments 1-50 have a lot of links to good articles that aristeides went to some fuss to make...

jim stated earlier in this thread that his conclusions are somehow based on "sampling." Sorry, but any conclusion drawn based on a sample from a corrupt data base is garbage. The Chinese have "revised" their reported numbers upward repeatedly. At one point seem to recall that they were alleging that there were no new infections in February. Now February is the peak period. There is little doubt that they knew that they were lying when they released their numbers. They are still jerking the WHO representatives around in rather obvious ways. Until evidence is presented it is reasonable to assume that the Chinese numbers are pure crap.
I can understand how a peak in Hong Kong is a possibility, they have done a good bit of epidemiology, and quarantine. No such efforts have been described in anything I have read for the rest of China. If jim bas a basis for believing that behaviors in rural China have been sufficiently altered to stop the spread of a disease that has spread to health care workers in isolation suites, wearing n95 respirators, gowns, and gogles I'd love to hear it.
The drop in new infections in Hong Kong is encouraging, however as noted by per loin this drop could be a result of a trough in a econdary wave of infections within a or otheer flucuation in a new infection curve that is still still on the rise.

If SARS US is anything like SARS Canada, where even medical personnel are being infected despite using N95 mask, gown, gloves, and eye protection, then there will be as much upheaval here as in China...

Like I posted weeks ago, I think SARS is the handiwork of Bin Laden and or Saddam.
Both want to destroy America and the economies of the world.
We have seen what Binny has done to airlines and tourism and the stock market.
We know that he has said he is targeting certain economies.
Way back when the USS Cole was attacked, I started searching Mahfouz and Al-Amoudi and Bin Laden.
When I found the extent of ownership of biomedical entities by the bad boys, I knew it was just a matter of time.
Hybridon-Isis-Antisense-WorldCare-MedEmerge-yada,yada.
I think SARS will kill millions of people because American officials sucking tax dollars are too stupid and corrupt to take appropriate measures.
Yep, we are doomed!

It's Easter, and lots of those baskets are big enough to wrap inside and out with tinfoil. They even have handles for chin straps. So it's a good day to remind everyone about all those "Chemtrails" that littered the sky a while back.
During that wickiwup, some suggested that the US was engaged in a secret process of innoculating or vacinating America against some strange new disease that was coming.
BTW, I don't think that either Taiwan or Japan has had a death yet either. Nor South Korea, but they should be listed separately, as they've got kimshee.

I have been wanting to mention the chem trails (which I never believed in) but was afraid to. It has been in the back of my mind all along, especially when people were questioning if there was another agent in the environment.
Do you remember reading all those claiming to be having (mild) respiratory problems as a result of?

Your link to the Saudi article in the Hindustantimes.com gets me an "Illegal Operation" window and my puter shuts down!
I tried typing in the words HindustanTimes.com and it still gets me that illegal operation shutdown.
What does that mean?
I am going to google Saudi and SARS and see what happens.

I googled and found that Saudi is saying the guy is OK, and does not have SARS.
Is Saudi telling the truth?
How is the Kuwait victim?
How soon before it hits the troops?

That show with Keifer Sutherland...always has some convoluted plot with 80 layers of bad guys all working for different factions.

For any who have followed the discussion of charting onsets vs charting reports or hospital admissions, i've posted a chart
here. I'll be adding more soon (or whenever)
