Has the "Assault Weapons" ban prevented you from enjoying, purchasing, selling or trading firearms? How? How did it not change anything for you?
No offense bro, but I don't think this is anyone's business in the first place. It should have never reached this point. My only comment would be the law itself is, or should be, offensive to every clear thinking American.
September 14, 1994, but be careful. The markings of restricted magazines can be removed or hidden and foreign manufactured magazines can be illegally imported. Although the government must carry the burden of proof, the regulatory agency responsible for enforcement in this area has a reputation for entrapment. This law must be allowed to expire.
I fail to see how the military's needs drove the market and R&D for the concealed pistol wave we are experiencing.
Undoubtedly the military drives R&D but a market force has been artificially eliminated by the gun laws.
If the AWB is allowed to sunset you will see more inovation not less or the same. There is nothing wrong with the military and civilian sector driving the market.
The AWB drives prices up on existing pre-ban equipment and keeps the Post ban market from achieving all possible growth product line and innovation.
Why should I be limited to buying used 100 round magazines? What's the point except to cause a lot of consumers to be unable to purchase the 100 round drum mag because they cost over 350 bucks?
Well that 100 round mag I want is now over 400 bucks so that's affected my ability to purchase it.
Of course eventually the supply of "pre-ban" magazines will dry up. Also the versions of those guns you can legally buy now (assuming they aren't "pre-ban" specimans") are not the same guns, although the differences are not large. The biggest loss, IMHO, is the flash suppressor, but the real loss is in a principal. That principal is that if the government can restrict you to < 10 round magazines, ban flash suppressors, and so forth, they can ban entire classes of firearms. Oh maybe not this year or next, but they can and eventually they will. So even if the ban doesn't affect you now, or at least not too much, it will affect your children and/or their children, even if nothing is changed. So I guess it's OK to give up your kids rights, as long as yours are left intact?
If the ban is renewed, it probably won't be a one for one replacement, as the article indicates they want to ban the import of >10 round magazines, new or "pre-ban". They will likely try to get more guns included on the list, perhaps even SKSs, M-1 Garands and M-1 Carbines (if newly manufactured, imported, or remanufactured, as many Garands now are), or they might just ban semi-autos altogether, or remove the grandfathering from the law. Any of those is possible with a new law. And if the Deputy Press Secretary is to be believed, President Bush is committed to sign such a new law, if Congress passes one. No matter what the terms of the law, if it's sold as a renewal (with a little loophole closing) of the AWB, the President will now be under tremendous pressure to sign it, just at the '04 elections kick into high gear. With the President having declared his support, the RINOs will have no need to vote against the bill. This is a bad thing the deputy press secretary has done, make no mistake about it.
What about a flash suppressor? Might come in handy some night when and if things go all to snot, either due to a home invader, or a riot.
Read what I wrote, thats what I meant. No party endorsement at all either.
Like I said, it has become a witch hunt. From you making up things I "implied" to CWO Jackson calling me Micheal Moore.
Thanks for proving my point, you made it easy.
No, it's not. The AR-15 is specifically named in the law as banned. Any US made rifle with 2 or more of the "bad" items, and able to accept a > 10 round removable magazine is banned. That's why no flash suppressors, bayonet lugs and so forth. All to save the pistol grip. That probalby means that if the law is renewed, semi-automatic long guns with pistol grips will be banned, as they already are in California. So there goes your AR-15 clone, including the .308 variants (AR-10, SR-25, etc) unless you want it with one of those butt ugly and not really functional "California" grips. In fact I think the government there, who get to decide what consitutes a "pistol grip", failed to approve them anyway. I have a friend who sold all his AR clones and he had a couple of dozen, because he said he never knew when the AG would declare on of them banned, and he'd lose not only his RKBA in California, but nationwide as well, not to mention the security clearance the loss of which would severly restrict his consulting pratice, if not end it entirely.
To bad the "always disenfranchised" crowd can't understand as much.
By the same token, you don't read about many drive by bayonetings either. The fact is that so called assault weapons are not used in crimes to any degree compared to say, knives or hands and feet, so why are politicians so hot to ban them? Remember it's not even the bayonet that is banned, it's the bayonet lug for gosh sake.
The heck it hasn't. I wanted a rebuilt G-3(H&K designed .308 semi-auto) but you can't get them with a flash hider. I hate the muzzle brake I had to settle for instead, it makes shooting from under cover at a range unpleasant for everyone, the shooter and those using nearby positions. It gets you some really nasty looks too. Before the AWB, my finances were such that I couldn't afford to buy one, or an AR-15 for that matter. Afterwards, when I could afford one, I couldn't get one with the flash hider. Yes I could have one with no muzzle device at all, but that's not what I wanted, and you did say "want".
You mean Pat is running again?
I don't know, but the ban isn't on buying per se, it's on selling. Manufacturers and retailers (if there were any newly manfacturered guns and/or magazines other than LE only) are not going to risk losing their licenses in order to be a test case. From the gun grabbers point of view, that's the beauty of the law, no one to take it to court where it just might be found unconstitutional.
Do you really feel that it was all Pat? Could it not be millions of Americans that have have *hadenuf* of all the BS....Meaning their rights, and the constitution of the United States being minimized, and/or ignored?
Why is it I can get Russian 7.62x39 but I can't buy the Chicom's 7.62?
That has bewildered me for years.
