If I hadn't lived in Seattle for the past four years, I would have thought this conversation was made up. Nobody could be this stupid (not unless he's protecting his job). Unfortunately, I have met too many people like this!

Yeah, I realize this is preaching to the choir, but it's always good to see the truth in a newspaper once in a while.

The headline is a grabber and then I see that this was published in Las Vegas ... a city that wouldn't exist except for people's inability to understand math.

I lived in Seattle area for 12 years when Gates was rising to power. We had a computer business and my husband and our tech used to joke, "You go down to the streets of Seattle, jump up turn around and point... and hey there is a stupid person!!!"

I think it has gone way downhill since we moved to Oregon in '94. Portland is just as bad, thats why we live three hours south of Portland in heartland America, with the millworkers, loggers and ranchers.

Until we take back the school system from the liberal establishment, we will continue down this path of illiteracy. Dismantle the teachers unions and get back to education instead of politics and social reform.

Hooray! Bump! Constitution - this is a good counter to the NC Education bureaucrats who want our taxes increased in order to fund continued destruction of America's literacy rate!

Evidence for your point that more money spent for public schools only serves to make them worse.
