I'm having a hard time not getting mad when I see Iraqi demonstrations saying that the U.S. is no better than Saddam. A huge part of me wants to say "Fine, you want us gone? We're outta here. You can fend for yourselves." How ungrateful can you get? (And you know the uproar that would occur if we DID pull out now!! So as usual, we can't win.)

And all this whimpering about how the US needs to fix the electricity, water, medical situation... that we're not doing it fast enough... that we should have been able to fight a war AND fix all the civil problems at the same time. Gimme a break!

If France came here to liberate us from Clinton/Bush/etc., I cannot IMAGINE we Americans would be griping that France needs to "turn the electricity back on". Heck, we would be griping for them to get out of our way so WE could turn our own power back on.

Furthermore, did Baghdad Bob have that entire country convinced that this war was never going to happen? Weeks before we went to war, my Mother called all of us "kids" and told us to stock up on food, water, radios, batteries, candles, cash, dog food, etc. And that was just in case of any terrorist reprisals. If there was actually going to be a WAR on our soil, she would have had us building bomb shelters, and stocking drums full of food and water! So how can the people of a country that is about to be warred-upon NOT have stocked up on water?

Grrrrrr. The whining is just annoying!

Understandable...a huge part of me can get angry at that, especially when I think of the loss of life on both sides. But then I take a deep breathe and think:

Kinda no pleasing them, eh?

Kinda like our OWN protesters, eh? ;-)

Freedom isn't also free of its ugly, selfish side...I don't think these handfuls of people who gather in front of the cameras are representative of the Iraqis as a whole, who I think are a good people whose history certainly rivals anything I can offer...(Hammurabi, anyone?). Basically just accentuate the positive. ;-)

(think there are moderate Iraqis throwing up their shoes in disgust and saying basically what we're saying over a hookah and an egg?)

(there is also an Iraqi equivalent of Bill and Hillary lurking somewhere...if we find them, there's another pre-emptive strike we can make :p)

Regarding the way the Iraqis "feel" about the US and our intentions:

Ignore them for the next several months. After that time, but not before, we will finally have the infrastructure put together and available to the people in a way it has not been for 20 years, food will be widespread and plentiful, crops will be growing for the first time in years with machinery avaliable, and it will be clear that we are working to leave Iraq ASAP, at least politically. Between now and then, we'll just have to put up with the constant sniping.

Oh, and I forgot:

5000 less kids will be dying every month, and

People will not be taken away for torture by the government.
