Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help!  If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!

Featured Freepers: An.American.Expatriate for originating the threads, Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service™, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

It's not that bad except in the summer..Cachania is a term for a person raised in Baja California, most used by those from Mexicali/Tijuana...it is also a name of a nice bar in Mexicali..once had a girlfriend that lived in Mexicali...in the summer they all go to San Felipe to escape the heat...

Half-serious, I'm tempted to call from a work phone and tell them they just broadcasted their # around the world on their webcam, and they should be more careful.

But I can't figure out how this # would work. It starts "821" but the Iraqi country code is 964.

I wonder how much "loot" will end up on ebay. That 24 carat gold toilet seat will look fine in someone's collection!

Trivia question (not as a game -- I'm just frustrated at the CRS syndrome/senior moment, can't remember): What's the name of the green bar south of Tijuana, parrot on the wall -- great place. I remember getting there a lot more times than I remember leaving there...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, and it CAN NOT be understated: Entrenched liberalism is NOT coming out of U.C. Berkeley as much as it is coming out of Columbia, Yale, Harvard -- I lived at a dorm in Columbia for six months, I never saw ANYTHING like that in Berkeley -- COMPLETELY closed minds, totally elitists snobs. In Berkeley, I really never took much crap for being a conservative -- and I was vocal about it. ;-) What I'd get was, "Well, if conservatives were like you, we might listen to them," at which point I'd have to explain that conservatives WERE like me... ;-) They had been well programmed.

It also helped if you just walked out on classes where on the first day the Prof. is making political statements. If you can do that, you get a chance to, say, take Astronomy with Alex Filipenko, the leading authority on dark matter (anybody who watches NOVA knows him :p). Also, remember, McWhorter is at Berkeley...

"There are two major products that came from Berkeley: LSD and Unix. We don't believe this to be a coincidence."

Yes, I know (1) it's BS, and (2) Sandoz Labs invented LSD. It just seemed, somehow, appropriate just now :-)...
