Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help!  If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

They think there are more out there, south. Now concerned about not shooting into OUR forces in that area (excuse my lack of military techie terms!)

Most of the Fedeyahan(?) are non-Iraqis; most are mercenaries from other countries. So it would not be surprising if these guys are "foreigners."

Some years ago we had to sponsor an Egyptian soldier who was training with our troops. He was a very nice guy who treasured his wife and children. We had him over for dinner and things like that. But, we were warned not to reveal too much about ourselves to him and my husband was supposed to take notes on things he said. I thought of him when I saw that guy. Not that the fedayeen looked like him but something about the features made me think Egyptian.

I think they need to issue "flapjackets" to some of the anchors, strapped tightly around their mouths, to keep them from flapping their gums when something's going on and better commentators are on-scene :-).

Both MSNBC and CNN have been giving most of the air time to people on-scene, but Fox is staying in the studio mostly.
