Someone else I know found a kitten on the road, brought it home, fed it, etc... fast forward a year and kitten is now 45 pounds, turned out it was a bobcat. They had to give it away as it could have hurt their kids.

I think Putin played the politics of the war in Iraq about as good as he could. Politically, Putin had to oppose the war in Iraq due to the overwhelming opposition in his country. He let Chiraq go out on a limb and threaten to veto a UN resolution to go to war, while he stayed in the background. France and Germany come out of this with lower prestige. It's a wash for Russia.
