Remember welfare reform? Clinton vetoes the first bill. Then the GOP waters it down. Clinton vetoes it anyway.

The GOP then passed a 3rd that was even tougher and had more flexibility that the first. According to Dick Morris, by this time the polls had turned and he warned Clinton that if he didn't sign it, Dole could beat him using the issue.

So, he signed it. All while the Dems were in the press whining and predicting the universe would, again, collapse in on itself.

At the 1996 convention, Clinton and all of the rubes in that party said they would "FIX IT" after he signed it. They practically made it their campaign slogan.

Then something really strange happened....it worked! Not only did they not "fix it"...they took total credit for it.
