Where can I find the rules for this board? I'm confused on why this thread has not been moved to chat.

Some people have taken these threads over as their own personal chat sessions. While some of you try to justify it as making friends during downtimes, you are driving away people who came here for the lastest updates.

If you want to save these pages for history, you might want to think about the nonsense you are posting in a thread that is meant to honor our soliders. I've saved them all and they're not pretty.

Many people came here the first fews days of this war and they pleaded to have the graphics limited. The wonderful person who sets this up, daily asks the same thing, but you guys don't seem to care.

We all realize that there are slow times and chat fills the gap.....but you people have taken your late night jokes to a running commentary during the day. You've left nothing for the rest of us.

Please, could we have the Situation Room back?

I can't take credit for it, but -- to quote another great Freeper,

"Dad's home! Hide the bong!"

Then post stuff Krodg.

As you can see, there is another lull. The whole reason this was set up was to be 24 hours LIVE.

Can you fill 24 hours with current news that isn't happening on the war? We post, we talk, we watch, we ping, etc.

No one is "driven away"...if they can't find what they are looking for they need to check out the news websites first.

I could sit here link articles all day long.

We've had this debate for 22 days now.

If you were here yesterday, you know we almost hit 6,600 posts....almost all on the war when we were watching tanks in Baghdad.

So please, contribute.

So you got to post your opinion.....which had nothing to do with the war.
Here's my opinion. If people only posted 'series' posts of only relevant information (according to whom), there would be a lot less posts, and I would probably not read it because a slow moving thread (read: not a lot of posts) is boring to me. In a free republic you have a diversity of opinions, despite self appointed individuals attempting to impose their will based on how they think things shall be. This is the frustrating thing about freedom, people will think about whatever they want, and even sometimes express an opinion. This is marketplace of ideas, and if I want lockstep thinking I can surely get my cyberlobotomy over at DU.
It never seems to fail that when you have freewheeling discourse somebody wants to shape it because it's freewheeling.
My suggestion: Start your own thread. List your rules at the beginning and kick off anybody that breaks your rules, after all, it's a free country!

Krodg ole chap, you really need to lighten up. This is not a newpaper. If you want the news go to drudge and click on the links. We are friends here sharing a great wartime experience. Alot of us were here for the great recount among other events. It is important to us. Actually saving these threads would be great..anyone can pull news articles,,this is a real sociological phenomena, people finding common values, humor, friendship online on a political site. You could write a book. But ole boy, you just have to go with the flow, chill out,,and besides, you are not the boss of us.

Krodg makes absolutely excellent, SANE, and POLITE points. Several of you jump on him/her like children. "Oh yeah? Well your mother is fat!" That kind of emotional, childish reaction is the same kind of thing that pisses most of you off about the "Arab" world. Baghdad Bob doesn't have a military leg to stand on, so he calls the Americans names. You can see how rediculous it is when he does it -- can you see how rediculous it is when YOU do it?

What is wrong with "you people" that you can't see the point that is trying to be made? And why can't you respond in a HELPFUL (rather than devisive) way?? Krodg is simply making a point that if you want to drop in for news, it is utterly impossible. You can't sift through 6000 posts to get a "quick update."

Here is an example of a HELPFUL reply:

Krodg: To get the best headline updates on BREAKING war news, click on this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/t-breaking/browse

And to get all the news/activist topics posted, click on this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/t-editorial/browse

After someone showed me WHERE I could find the news I was looking for, then it was no longer important that I couldn't sift through 6000 posts of wankerisms. So I completely empathize with Krodg... both the frustration of not being able to get the news due to all the chit chat, and for being stonewalled for even bringing up the subject. But now that I can find the news AND chat, I'm a happy camper. :-)
