Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!
Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...
Aw, come on, Addict, you weren't treated that badly, considering your first "frustrated" post :-).
And -- this is the key -- you didn't get your feathers ruffled too badly, and stayed around long enough to realize that this thread, warts and all, is one of the greatest shared experiences Free Republic has ever experienced. "The Election," that changed so many of us from lurkers to donating FReepers wasn't as upbeat as this until the very end, and we spent the slow periods biting our nails...
You came in and complained, but then you had a beer or two, met a few really cool new FRiends, lightened up, and started participating. Probably opened up another browser on Latest Posts, too...
If K will do the same, and hit F5 a few times, we'll have a new FRiend. If he keeps his feelings on his shoulder, well, we'll probably all check out his new "all news" thread, too :-).
Now, anything but wind and Windy 3,2,1 on the Bagcams? Where's Baghdad Bob?
If I may add a little insight here? I'm a Geologist. The ANWR region is known to have only enough reserves to supply the country for SIX MONTHS. Then it will be dry.
Wouldn't the money spent on developing the ANWR oil field be better spent on getting alternative energy solutions mainstreamed to the public? Solar, wind, hydrogen cars, etc. all exist, but they are not mass produced, so they are all still relatively expensive. IMHO, we need to spend money on renewable energy resources, not on extracting the last drop of oil from the planet. Oil is a finite resource. It cannot be replaced. Once it's gone, it's gone. What will the grandchildren of our grandchildren do when we've used up all the world's oil?
I welcome thoughtful responses. But hey, if you have a witty response instead, lemme have it! ;-)
JMO on how it appears and can be perceived.
Excuse me, having a husband in the conflict does not give you the right to talk down to anyone. I have been here through all of the nonsense (the phallic buildings, Pretty Chicken etc)and have only complained about graphics.. until today.
Those events are not always breaking news, the iraqi Sign with the word WANKER on it, was an event..we discussed it..
Yes, it was breaking yesterday!!! We've heard it all day!!!
"You can drag an ass to water
But you can't make him drink
Debate with him forever
But you can't make him think
They're American it's true
Born here like me and you
Enjoying blood-bought freedom
But in their hearts
They've forgotten the meaning
Of the red, white and blue"

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif., April 10 (UPI) -- Wives of Camp Pendleton Marines involved in the war in Iraq have been receiving crank calls from individuals claiming to work for the Red Cross who regretfully, and falsely, inform them that their spouses had been killed in action.
Since there has been no drilling in ANWR, where are you getting your information on the reserve? I am curious, because I see that six month figure quoted all the time, but i can't ever seem to find a source.
