NICHOLAS DE GENOVA, Assistant Professor Ph.D., University of Chicago Telephone: (212) 854-0199
office: 416 Hamilton email: npd18@columbia.edu
The central concerns of my research and teaching include: labor and class formation, racialization, the production of urban space, nationalism, the politics of citizenship, and transnational social processes, especially migration. My ethnographic research explores the social productions of racialized and spatialized difference in the experiences of transnational Mexican migrant workers within the space of the U.S. nation-state. More specifically, I examine transnational urban conjunctural spaces that link the U.S. and Latin America as a standpoint of critique from which to interrogate U.S. nationalism, political economy, racialized citizenship, and immigration law. This work contributes to a reconceptualization of Latin American, Latino, and "American" (U.S.) Studies. Likewise, I am interested in the methodological problems of ethnographic research practice and the limits of anthropological disciplinary forms of knowledge and modes of representation.

Whats more amazing is that itll end up being on a list for some general ed requirement.
I once got stuck taking the Asian-American Women in Literature class the same way every other class that fulfilled the requirement was full and it was the only one with open slots.
Since I wasn't interested in hanging out for an extra semester just to meet a requirement, I opted to just take it. It was a nothing class, BTW.
Another elitist regressive mandarin making money and a reputation from exploiting the sub cultures of the poor.
Degenova represents everything that is anti human and anti progressive in intellectual inquiry.
Why not just let him stay where he is, but make DAMNED sure our returning Soldiers from the NY area have a chance to hear his logic. There will be true heroes walkin' the streets before long. The peacenicks better keep that in mind.
You may not have thought about this when making public your fervent desire for millions of young Americans to be violently killed but, those men and women will return soon. Many are from the NY area. Some, if not most, have been unaware of cowardly twits such as yourself; but they will soon become aware. I would not want to be you when a Psy-Op's boy who lives in Manhattan learns about your position. Maybe he'll give you the opportunity to personally kill him.
It must really suck to be you.
I hope that's not too radical a suggestion.
On the contrary, that's an excellent suggestion. I think we should all do the same. Really, we're the taxpayers. We ought to have a little say in how our money gets spent. I might add that if one lives in that state, they ought to write their state reps and Governor as well.
