UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Reversing course as TV images showed a mob in Baghdad tearing down a statue of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, Arab nations withdrew on Wednesday a request for a U.N. General Assembly meeting on Iraq.
"With the rapid developments, the Arab group has decided to put it on hold, pending more clarity in the situation" said one Arab envoy, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Several Arab envoys insisted the initiative had merely been suspended and would be revived at a later date.
But Kuwaiti Ambassador Mohammad Abulhasan, whose government opposed a special session from the start, predicted the request had been dropped definitively.
"It is not going to come back," Abulhasan told Reuters.

The Rally for America will be on the Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets, on the West side of the Capitol, from noon until 3pm. The DC Chapter is among the many groups co-sponsoring the rally. I heard a radio ad for the rally on WMAL today; so with the advertising and the good news from Baghdad today, I think it's going to be a huge event!

Oops! Again I didn't read the whole thread, and again I end up repeating something that has already been said. I'm always late for something...

Thanks, I needed that. Walking distance to the Capitol Grill. Oh, and walking distance to the Tune Inn. At least I can park up at that end of Constitution, if they'll let me come in over the Bridge. Last time I couldn't get into town. See ya there.

"With the rapid developments, the Arab group has decided to put it on hold, pending more clarity in the situation" said one Arab envoy, speaking on condition of anonymity. Meaning "Uh oh...the Iraqi people are actually happy. What if our slaves want freedom too. We'd better shut up".
