Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

He actually tried to claim Clinton should get credit for building this bad-ass military! The mind boggles.
The bigger the lie, and the more times you tell it, the more people tend to believe it. They are spinning that for everything they can get out of it.

I have got to read that book. Somehow I got on the mailing list for Conservative Book Service and I think they were offering it at a discount.

Those Iraqi refugees basking in the sun on the coast of Syria will not have a moments peace. They will always be wondering who is behind the next door.

Vallely just said that Lata-KIA is on the cote d'azur... in Syria? I heard that too. Obviously my education needs to be augmented!

Do you subscribe to National Review? They had a deal with them to send their book mailings, at no obligation, to subscribers for a while.
To: melodie
Yes, I'm sure that's what that was. This was done right before his 3rd meeting with the Tower Commission. This is from Ollie's book regarding his speaking abilities:
Everyone made fun of his language, which was oblique and indirect even by Washington standards. Some people thought he was putting on airs and deliberately trying to be incomprehensible. Perhaps the most famous example of McFarlanese occured when he testified under oath before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on December 8, 1986. In response to a question about third-country support for the Nicaraguan resistance, McFarlane replied, 'The concrete character of that is beyond my ken.' This statement was one reason that Bud pled guilty to a charge of with-holding information from Congress.

why not whack them with a hellfire from a predator, if its an above ground hotel, it should be an easy target, especially on the coast.

I flipped over to check out the big three networks to see how todays events were being relayed to those without cable. I was stunned to hear Dan Rather's report which was so negative it was shocking even coming from him.
He spoke ended the segment talking about the "death", "pain", and "despair" in Baghdad this night. Listening to this freakin idiot Dan-Bill Clinton's an honest man- Rather, you would have thought we surrendered to Baghdad Bob today!

Latakia, playground for scumbags since 1945.
Several ex-SS guys made their homes their after the war.
The damn Turks had better run us a solid and close their border.
To: melodie
Fox - Ollie reports that he walked through slums worse than calcutta when he went on patrol through the eastern (shi'ite) part of the city. Those people love us. Some people are hanging from lamp posts with signs pinned to them saying "Ba'ath Party". They're also taking care of the foreign fighters. Alot of the ammo their finding is from "friendly" countries.

To: Miss Marple
You've got something there Miss Marple. I could not believe what I was hearing when Morton Kondracke gave Clinton credit for the victory in Iraq because he kept up the weapons production. What a joke!
My husband (unfortunately) was working in the Pentagon for two years midway through Clinton's Presidency and they were constantly having to fight Clinton's political appointees for everything!
If it had not been for Newt Gingrich and the "Republican Revolution" we would not have had the weapons that have helped us to win this war so far.
I also recall that during the Kosovo police action Wesley Clark nearly used up our tomahawk and cruise missile strategic reserve.
The Clinton administration also civilianized many important logistics operations which put our troops in that convoy that was attacked in harms' way. They did not train for or have the proper protection.
I could go on and on. Clinton downsized the military, not the federal government and it was the support structure that was downsized.
My husband was there and he fought against it. So, we all know that Morton Kondracke is on the receiving end of the Democrat talking points.
From now on I will take that in consideration everytime I hear him open his prissy mouth.
