I got a 56 year old sister who works her tail off so her worthless 22 yr old son can roll out of bed at the crack of noon, surf the web and play computer games until the wee hours of the night. Kid can't keep a job so now he doesn't even bother to look!!

So many mothers allow their adult children to live with them (and actually encourage it). I don't understand the phenomenon myself. This is one issue that my wife and I are in 180 degree opposition to each other. I am looking forward to the day that my two boys grow up and go out on their own. Not that they are bad kids or that I don't want them around but because I want for them what I obtained for myself - total independence at an early age. There is no other feeling in the world like it. Frankly, I would be very disappointed and will consider myself a failure as a parent if my kids are having trouble finding jobs and/or still hanging around the house in their adulthood.

My wife on the other hand dreads the day that they will grow up and leave home and if it were up to her, they'd never leave.

This supports the time tested concept of a traditional family. There is a balance between the protective nature of a Real Man when the young are vulnerable, and the nurturing side of a Mom that tends to go on after the little ones are ready to take off.
