George Schultz speaking at MIT on Wednesday, April 9th

Posted on 04/08/2003 7:50:40 AM PDT by A_Conservative_in_Cambridge

This lecture is notable for two reasons. (1) Dr. Schultz was among the chief architects of President Reagan's successful effort to topple the "Evil Empire." (2) My reliable sources indicate that the MIT leftists may be planning to cause havoc at this event, since Dr. Schultz does not subscribe to the Gnome Chomsky theory of foreign policy.

I am planning to attend, and I invite fellow Freepers to join me in support of Dr. Schultz.

George Shultz, former Secretary of State in the Reagan Administration, is being honored as an MIT alumnus (Ph.D. in Economics, 1949) for his contributions to the social sciences. He is a former member of the MIT economics faculty, a former member of the University of Chicago faculty where he also served as Dean of the business school. Most recently, he has been based at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University where he is a senior fellow.

Date: Wednesday, April 9, 2003

Time: 5:00pm

Location: Massachusetts Institute of Technology Building E15 Bartos Theatre 20 Ames Street Cambridge, MA

Sponsored by the MIT Department of Economics.

This event is free, and open to the public.

A followup to the George Schultz presentation at MIT:

For those of you who weren't there, you missed an inspriring and thought-provoking evening. But, in several weeks you can be "almost there." A streaming video of the entire talk will be posted by MIT on the following web site:

http://web.mit.edu/mitworld/

Check it out after May 1st . . . the video engineer told me that it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to convert it to Real Player format and upload it to the Web.
