This lecture is notable for two reasons. (1) Dr. Schultz was among the chief architects of President Reagan's successful effort to topple the "Evil Empire." (2) My reliable sources indicate that the MIT leftists may be planning to cause havoc at this event, since Dr. Schultz does not subscribe to the Gnome Chomsky theory of foreign policy.
I am planning to attend, and I invite fellow Freepers to join me in support of Dr. Schultz.
George Shultz, former Secretary of State in the Reagan Administration, is being honored as an MIT alumnus (Ph.D. in Economics, 1949) for his contributions to the social sciences. He is a former member of the MIT economics faculty, a former member of the University of Chicago faculty where he also served as Dean of the business school. Most recently, he has been based at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University where he is a senior fellow.
