NBC News is reporting that F-16s dropped two precision-guided bombs on the residence of "Chemical" Ali just south of Basra. The Pentagon is telling them that they believe Ali was in his home at the time and was killed during the strike. They caution that they need to have confirmation on the ground to be sure, but it sounds like a good hit!

I understand there is a huge radius to those things...very indiscriminate, and an even wider area of shock wave. Perhaps they are just too dangerous to use effectively, without endangering our own troops? I'm just guessing. I also understand the Beduins (desert nomads) like us, and are peaceful folk, and we are trying not to hurt them.
Maybe that's why we haven't used them? (again, just guessing)

Some of the people on the thread are more than a bit naive...

Quite frankly, like most other children, odds are that Chemical Ali's kids looked up their daddy -- proud of their old man for whatever he did, and saw him as a mentor who was doing his job. If anyone thinks otherwise, then explain why not?

I defy anyone here to welcome as ,your neighbor, Mrs. Chemical Ali and her "well behaved, normal" children.
