It's also going to be interesting to find out why they aren't telling how she got the broken bones - the fact that they're offering no info about how she was tortured could be a clue.

I'm pretty sure I know how she got those injuries. I think I know with a little help from Rush Limbaugh.

Rush had a caller this past Friday, a caller he refers to as a member of the "2 inch club".

And he caller certainly deserves that title as he ranted that Jessica Lynch is no hero, that she did nothing to deserve all the glory, that her rescuers are the real heros.

Rush told the caller that her rescuers are heros but that their names cannot be released because they are special ops forces. To release their identities would be folly. But, Rush asserted, they are regarded as heros by the American public and besides, the rescuers are happy enough to have saved one of their own.

Then Rush asked the caller what the hell was his problem. Jessica Lynch went through hell and why was he so bitter.

After this, Rush did some speculating as to what might have happened to Jessica and that is when my blood went cold. Because his speculation is probably right on the money.

According to Rush, the Iraqi thugs like to hang female prisoners naked, upside-down, by their ankles.

Think about it. How did Jessica get two broken ankles? How did she get an injury to her spine? How did she get a broken collar bone?

Those injuries fit that torture exactly. The ropes likely snapped her ankle bones. Who knows, those heathens might have taken delight in swinging her around on her ropes, banging her body against stuff. This sort of treatment most certainly would cause spinal injuries.

I think a lot of the vaguery about Jessica's injuries are purposeful. First, Jessica deserves her privacy. If it was a horrific experience she shouldn't have to re-live for the whole world. Second, it simply doesn't help morale for the world to hear how badly she was treated.

My own speculation is that the lawyer who went to such great lengths to rescue her wasn't compelled because she was being slapped around. I think he heard her being raped regularly and it was driving him nuts. In fact, when her Iraqi rescuer went into her "room", she greeted him as "Doctor". I think those rapists made her call them Doctors.

My heart has been heavy since this realization sunk in on me but hey, I could be wrong.

But I don't think so. How about that Rush caller who was so angry that Jessica's getting so much hoopla? I'm serious, it's people like this that give conservatives a bad name. He didn't want a mere female to be getting kudos the big, bad military guys rightfully deserve. At least in his head cavity called a mind.

Let HIS little two inch endowed self go through what Jessica went through then we'll talk.

Maybe there are other places besides Hollywood that make movies. I think most of the Hollywood crowd should have nothing to do with patriotic movies.

"Jessica held up her hand and grabbed the Ranger doctor's hand, and held onto it for the entire time, and said,

'Please don't let anybody leave me,' "

Speechless ...

There are a lot of heroes in Iraq today. I hope they all come home safely to tell their stories.

I've heard that he and his family have been evacuated to a safe place near the Kuwait border.

No, I think that's the lawyer who told Marines where Lynch was. This refers to a doctor there at the hospital, I think.

Has anyone heard whether or not this doctor is still alive? If he wasn't evacuated, I doubt the murderous Iraqi savages let him live.

In the initial reports of the rescue, I heard that the Iraqi doctor had been evacuated with Jessica and that she "held his hand" during the trip.

Today's General from Centcom reported that she "grabbed the Ranger doctor's hand and held onto it for the entire time."

I hope that the first report was correct and that the Iraqi doctor is also safe, but I am very worried about him.

He is also a hero and in my prayers.

I'm praying that the Dr. was not tortured or killed for cooperating

Same here. It did sound as though the doctor and the lawyer were more than acquaintances--it was the doctor who led the lawyer to pfc Lynch in the first place. I hope we hear some good news about the doctor soon.

"Speechless. In tears."

Yes, me too. Nobody should EVER HAVE to do anything like this. God bless them. They will never forget it.

Our military does, yes. However, to a kidnapper, Jessica is more valuable. She'll get you more response in the media.

And Jessica is from West Virginia. So what southern accent are you speaking of?

I'm in Kansas City, and there are "southern" accents all over the place - among native KS & MO!

Barret Swatek is from Alabama, so she could do a closer approximation of Jessica's accent than perhaps others.

Rush had a caller this past Friday, a caller he refers to as a member of the "2 inch club".

This caller was probably an admirer of the silly Rachel Corrie who threw herself in front of a bulldozer. To the liberals, the suicide bombers and all Saddam's men are good, our side is bad.

I don't think we have to worry about the likes of Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, et al getting casted for a film like this story. Even the studios know it would be a box office flop.

< As long as the Lynch family authorized all of it, I'd rush to go see it. Maybe get Barret Swatek to star as Jessica. She's a Southerner so she can do the accent, she's conservative, and she's an accomplished actress. >

Speaking as a West "by God" Virginian, I have to tell you that Jessica's accent (when you finally hear from her) will be "northern hillbilly" much the same as what you've heard from her family. Palestine is in northern WV near Ohio. I'd say the voice of Holly Hunter is more near what she will sound like. Here in WV we have less of a draw in our speech than southern as in ...say...Georgia. To New England it may sound like a draw in our speech. Make no mistake, we are proud of our hillbilly status. "Hillbilly" is all in how you use it.

They would need to buy the rights to her story from the family. The Lynch family will benefit financially. That will allow them to create foundations or for Jessica to have a home when she graduates college and becomes a teacher.

It would be nice if they would rename one of the bridges, stadiums, community centers, ect that Byrd has slapped his name on after Pfc. Lynch.

Someone needs to put this forth in the WV legislature!

< Hey, since your from WV, just wondering if anybody has heard from your senator Byrd. Is still truly "ashamed" of the United States. I think he was also maybe "embarrased" by his country. >

As on of the two Republicans in WV, I can safely say that I am, have been, and continue to be ashamed of Robert C. Byrd, but it's hard to get rid of an icon.

Barret Swatek can adapt the accent she heard as an Alabamian to be Northern Hillbilly.
