Jonah Goldberg at NRO writes this morning: We need to rename Iraq.

First, he suggested, ala Prince, "The country formerly known as Iraq". But he reconsidered:

Iraq has a bad brand name, marketing-wise. The country needs a fresh start. Any new name should be one a people can take pride in, while at the same time sending a positive, Western-oriented message to the world and its citizens alike. Also, we need to make it clear that we will not allow others to henpeck us. It seems to me there is one name which satisfies all of these requirements.

France.

[France, in a tribute to Rummy, will be known simply as "Old France".

Did anyone see Nightline with Ted Koppel last night? He filed his report from the Baghdad International Airport. At the end, he essentially said they were getting so comfy about their success so far, that their commander was considering going to MOP Zero (no NBC protection at all).

Geez... what is with these reporters? So if I'm the enemy, and now I know that our troops are going to be sitting out on the tarmac w/o their chem/bio suits on. Hmmmmmm... wonder what I do with that kind of info.

I think these reporters haven't figured out that they are filing their reports in REAL TIME. They are not recording on 8-mm film for showing as "War Updates" back home at the Saturday Matinee Movies, 3 weeks after the fact.

C'mon boys and girls, this is the 21st Century. "Loose lips sink ships!!!"
