Isn't that a bit like putting on a set of antlers in deer season?

No I don't think so .. they were in the middle of a battle and very understandable for him to do that .. and plus he doesn't look close to an Iraqi

Just heard on CNN... (as reported by anchor)

An Iraqi rescued was asked now that Saddam's regime is on it's way out, what do you expect to see happen?

He replied: "Demococracy, whiskey and sexy."

I've seen a-lot worse. For the freaky situtation (and with a yammering producer in her hear too, I'm quite sure) I thought she did quite well.

Yup, normal street traffic, and the buses are still running. Do you think someone could save someone from the bureau of transportation and get them to consult for our town here?

I just saw some of the replay and it sounds to me like we have a local commander who is playing to the media. Maybe he pulls it off without affecting his mission, but I do not like it.

Now I am not trying to say that some of the most famous officers from WWII and other wars did not play to the media too. Who was the paratrooper who set it up to claim the first boots on the ground in France? Still I like the guy concentrating on his troops and mission not the guy focusing on the mike.

FNC news crawl. Downed F-18 was single seater. CSAR underway. (Combat Search And Rescue). The USAF PJs (paramedical jumper) get those missions.

There's an airfield near Al Kut

There's an airfield near just about everywhere in Iraq. Over 100, as I understand, can be used by moderate sized aircraft, and were built by Saadumb. I'm not sure how many can be used in HOT weather by our fixed wing A/C, but certainly the choppers and C130s can... I'm not sure about the C17 takeoff roll vs. the C130, but I suspect they are able to use them, too.

Demococracy, whiskey and sexy."

The big problem for Baghdad will be keeping the Marines and Airborne from drinking the town dry.

I would call this a battle not the war. The War began 9-11 2001 for sure. This is just another battle in that war.

That is why all this UN stuff was silly. The US did not ask permission to invade the Solomon Islands in WWII although the Island did not bomb Pearl nor declare war on the US. We invaded them like Iraqi because the enemy was there.

I suspect these CO's have been fully briefed about how to handle the embed's. I suspect his Lt. Col. was following orders, according to the plan.
