Leading up to the conflict in Iraq a very disturbing trend has begun to occur here in Canada. Our Liberal government has sat on the fence, then hemmed and hawed, and then chose not to back the United States in your war on Iraq. You Americans are our friends and our brothers, whom I know would come to our defense in any situation. Unfortunately with the present state of politics in Canada you can see that we won't do the same for you. And thats why I've come to this website. I'm a farm kid, born and raised on the Alberta praire, who was brought up in a good Christian family, and whose father ensured he grew up knowing the true meanings of Justice and Freedom. And I want to be a Marine. I was hoping someone with specific knowledge as to how a Canadian might go about this could get back to me, as it is something my heart has been truly set on since I graduated highschool. I want to serve America, and would do so with complete loyalty to the constitution and the Commander In Chief. God willing someday I will become an American. In the meantime God bless your nation, your troops, and your leadership. And remember to always be vigilant for freedom, because who else is going to? Canada? I think not.
Whats the chances of like-minded Alberta citizens, like yourself, start a seccsion movement to join the USA ? We'd love to have you aboard.
Hope you enjoy the FREE REPUBLIC.
Whilst it might be a while before you could get green card status and therefore join the USMC, would you consider the Royals Marines? Many brave Canadians fought with the Brits in WWII. There are probably some Canadians in the Gulf now.
We would be proud to have someone like you serve with our finest, I hope you are able to make it happen.

You are right in doing so. The problem is, we currently have quite a number of dumb laws and do not enforce the smalrt ones.
It is our loss not having people like you onboard. You are now, before getting the official status, a better American than many I know who have been born here.
As usual, the jarheads didn't know what they were talking about
Call the Army
(Apologies to my jarhead friends)
I have contacted:
*** The National Recruiting Office (Marines) and was sent to a local office, from which I am waiting reply.
*** The office of the U.S. Senator Corzine. I gave a detailed information on the problem, which was recorded and would be passed along.
My suggestion is for the Senator to pass an amendment to any ongoing bill in the Senate to sponsor you personally; that is, to grant you, as an exception, a permanent residency status, which then enables you to join the military the same day.
If this is persued at all, it must be pushed and pushed and pushed. We'll see about the results, but this is not going to be immediate, even if resolved positively.
*** The office of the Representative Menendez (New Jersey District 6). The same notion --- to pass an amendment.
*** I will also contact Representative Pallone. It looks like I have to do that in writing. It will require, I am told to give all the details about you, which I do not currenly know: name, address, etc.
I suggest also that you take time and compose a statement that states your objectives and motivation. I told them that you are moved by the ideals of this country and, while not seeking benefits of citizenship, are asking for opportunity to contribute. But all of this has to come from you at this point.
If you desire to go ahead, then please taks some time to compose such a statement and then send it to me with your data (via Private Reply button or FR e-mail, to TopQark).
Once again, welcome to FR.
