In the case of this girl, I'd be very surprised if she wasn't sent home to her parents, immediately.

News org buzz is that a LOT of people died to save this girl. Of course, this is the spin they will put on the story. They always look for the cloud, not the silver lining. No matter how big our victory in Iraq turns out to be, the liberal media will say, "But people DIED, so it's all a failure." Damn them all.

Here is the El Paso source from an article dated yesterday. Presumably these dead and missing are already accounted for then:

Rescue effort for Bliss unit left 9 Marines dead, 8 missing
Diana Washington Valdez
El Paso Times
U.S. Marines were sent to rescue wounded members of the 507th Maintenance Company on March 23, the day the Fort Bliss unit was attacked in Iraq, but nine of the Marines who took part in the rescue effort were killed and eight others are missing, Pentagon officials said Sunday.
Meanwhile, efforts by the Red Cross to secure access to the American POWs have not succeeded, officials said Monday.
U.S. military officials also confirmed that the four bodies discovered a few days ago in shallow graves are of American troops, but have still not determined the branch of the military in which the troops served, much less their names.
"They have not been identified yet," Navy Lt. Cmdr. Charles Owens, spokesman for U.S. Central Command, said Sunday from Doha, Qatar.

The media played the story the way they did because CENTCOM woke them up at 2am to come in for a major story. You can't blame them for then treating it as a major story.
To: Ladysmith
Sheesh.
I can't either, it appears.

Yeah but the 507th Maintenance was all captured together, right? So it would lead you to believe they're all being kept with the same unit. I sure hope we have some news on the others, soon. She was listed as MIA, not POW. She was captured seperately and never shown with the others.
She was not listed as POW until a couple a days ago when they found out where she was and started the breakout.

Yes. This girl more than did her part. She more than served her country. Her time is done. I've no doubt that as soon as she is fully recovered (probably in shock, severe physical and psychological trauma) and debriefed, she will be put on the first plane home. Not a doubt about that.
