I'm not real good at judging the numbers but I would say around 800 to maybe 1000 showed up today at a Support the troops Rally in Alvin, Tx.. I wonder how many small towns like this were having Rally's for the troops that don't make the national news. I like to stress there are more of us than there are of the anti war protestors.
Was happy to see anymouse there. He was taking a lot of pictures and told me he would post them when I made a thread.. I took a couple pictures I sent to Flyer. The Rally was organized in haste with only a few days to set things up but the organizers thought it went well. They had lots of music and sing alongs etc. I would have liked to have heard more speakers, but no one asked me.. Maybe next time we can get a little more organized. It was quite nice considering.
I'll ping anymouse and Flyer so they can post the pictures.. Couldn't have asked for better weather..

There were many families of armed forces members at the Rally. They were asked to call out their family members name and branch of the service. Channels 13 and local FOX were there for awhile and interviewed some people. I'll have to keep an eye on the 10:00 news..

Mom, Im sorry I had to miss the rally today, but being an ardent capitalist, I had to work, but it sounds like you organized a very successful event.
Be sure to stay in close touch with Flyer. He is a real wiz at all things Freerepublic, and is our defacto leader. We are on the cusp of really making a difference, and The Houston Chapter Of Freerepublic is honored to have you as a member.

Well 'Texas Mom if you say 800 people, then I'll believe it. :) My guess was at least 500 people came out to support the troops. For a small town like Alvin this was a big rally.
Here are the photos I took:

You're probably closer in your guess than I am. I said I wasn't good at it.
We could call it the Million Man march and cook the numbers like the other side does.. LOL.
Thanks for the pictures.

That first pictures is out new Alvin Fire Depts Ladder truck.. They put the ladder up and hung a flag..
Everyone is still waiting for it to be used for something. Did you look around Alvin? Did you see any tall buildings?
Okay, I'll be nice. We have one tall building..

I just got in from work. I stopped in Pearland but that was as close as I got. It was already 8:30 anyway. Looks like y'all had a great time!

Boy the Sun really washed out my sign. :) Honest it is readable when not reflecting direct sunlight. :) I must have been getting ready to take a picture, else wouldn't have been on the ground.
