"Gen. Patton did not have kind words for those who could not face death. He had harsh words for the religious leaders who opposed the efforts of the military and preached, "Thou shall not kill."
Gen. Patton called these types, "pulpit killers!" He commented, "These pulpit killers that go around saying that the Bible says that man dare not kill causes the death of many thousands of good soldiers. Damn little those pulpit killers know about the Bible. They know even less about the way God works. They should read all of the Bible, not just the part they like! God never hesitated to kill. God never hesitates to kill when one man or any race of man needed to be punished. God helped David kill Goliath, didn't he? How about Noah and the Ark? All of the rest of the people were killed in the flood! God took the blame for this mass murder. How about the Red Sea which opened up long enough for one race to escape and another race to be killed.
Don't talk to me about God not permitting man to kill. War means that we have to kill people. That's all there is to it. It is a sin not to kill if we are serving on God's side. There is no other way to win. Wars must be won for God's sake. He has a part in every war! The quicker we can kill the enemy, the quicker we can go home and listen to the pulpit killers tell us what we did wrong. If it wasn't for us, those pulpit idiots would be shot for standing in their own pulpits. Our task is to kill the enemy before we are killed."...

Ignorant, panty-waisted preachers are not only useless, but dangerous!
AMEN! PJP need not apply.

You are so Right!
When Jesus returns and justly destroys the armies of Antichrist, it will be the single greatest example of capital punishment the world has ever seen.
In the Millennium, He will rule with a, "rod of iron."
Murder and child molestation will be dealt with promptly, summarily, and justly---would it were so now!
We disobey Jesus when as a government, we fail to dispense justice.
The individual must forgive evil commited against himself if the criminal truly repents and request such forgiveness.
Government cannot forgive---it must enact eye-for-eye and tooth-for-tooth judgment. To do otherwise is to hate God, society, and the victim.
This is the consistent teaching of the Bible and Jesus who, through His Spirit, wrote it.

" Sell your cloak and buy a sword."
Jesus said this to His disciples. He just got through telling them He had never let them down, but then He said "but now". If you read older comentaries, some say He meant they would have to defend themselves when He was gone because He knew they would be persecuted. We have the right of self defense and defense of rightiousness as a gift of God. Most today say Jesus would never have alowed violence so that verse means something else. As we see in the OT verses, a person was allowed to defend themselves and even conquer if it was the will of God. We are not allowed to be the bully however.

Jesus was giving his disciples last minute personal intstruction.
Instruction to Government is found in OT civil law and in Rom. 13.
Nations are allowed and required to act in righteousness.
Many Christians, as you know, fail in their world views because they fail to, "Rightly divide the word of truth."
God has given moral, civil, and ceremonial law.
These must be understood by looking at the context of the passage in question.
The Bible Should be read through yearly, at the least, by serious students of its truths.

Go Crimson Tide!
Unfortunately the personal qualities of Patton and Jackson and others don't translate well to the men who study them.
Patton and Jackson would still be military giants today. They would stand that much apart for knowing the history from their days till ours (standing on shoulders).
Head knowledge does not guarantee the success of military leaders. the Davids are gifted for their calling as are the Samuels for theirs.
They had that intuitive ability given to them by God. The generals of today, while good, don't equal these men.
Omar Bradly described Patton as the only "scholar" he knew of among the allied generals.
He said further, that patton had an ability to look at a battle field and know the way the forthcoming battle would fall out.

Amen! Thank God for His will that we had men like Patton to lead us to victory in those dark days of WW2. I wish he was at the helm today! We are going to have to KILL the enemy before they kill us to win this conflict.

Patton had a voice exactly opposite of Scott's. It was not rough and gruff, but shrill.
He also would have approved of the campaign so far. He willingly tried to avoid civilian casulaties if it could be helped. His goal was the cavalrymans dream.
Grab hold of 'em by the britches and kick 'em in the ass. Hold onto them, harry them, never give them a minutes rest or time to regroup.
That's how the 3rd Army overran so much of Europe so quickly.
If Patton had been there in '91, we wouldn't be there now.

George Patton - a real American. Too bad we don't have more like him.
