Jay Stout on FNC: "Pound them into hair, teeth, and eyeballs."
Fox News Channel | 3/30/03 | FNC

Posted on 03/30/2003 12:36:24 PM PST by FreepnDeacn

Lieutenant Colonel Jay Stout, United States Marine Corps (Ret.), commented on why there has been a so-called "delay" before ground forces move on Baghdad:

So our F-18's can go in and "pound them into hair, teeth, and eyeballs." I nearly fell off the couch.

Compare this patriot's comments to David Hackworth's last night on Larry King:

I trust Col. Hackworth's assessment of the situation more than pretty much any civilian's. He's been a supporter of the war, but he's also been very much in favor of doing it RIGHT... Yeah, we can probably pull it off without 100,000 more guys on the ground, but I wouldn't want to.

I agree with your observations. It is rather juvenile how many Freepers post themselves to orgasm with personal attacks against people who make unpopular observations. Hackworth understands the principles of raw combat power, and the inevitable influence of Murphy in battle. Overwhelming strength is the best guarantee of success on the battlefield -- and for dissuading hostile neighbors from the temptation of attacking our flanks.

While I might not agree with his every analysis, I would never totally disregard an experienced and knowledgable source.

Oi the Corps! I don't watch Fox News but that remark sounds like something I'd say. Can somebody make a .wav or .au file of it so I can use it as an alert sound on Tyrannosaurus Mac? Now I gotta rush...have a rally to join in Torrance!

i don't know where you get your info.... hack is/was part of "true majority", made his feelings known long ago. in my opinion he starts rumors, i.e. that our bio/chemical wear is no good and just stirs the pot.

"If you mess with him [Duke], he'll align you."

Duke sounds like some kind of dog, and a great mascot. Best to the grunts on the Rock from stateside...

I don't think I've heard that expression for nearly 30 years

Same here.

Ahh . . . Hack *is* a civilian. Has been for as long as their has been an all-volunteer army. He is about as relevant as a WWI vet critiquing the Korean War, and wondering why there aren't any horse cavalry units being deployed.

"Yes, we may be able to defeat the Iraqi forces, but doing it quickly, and then fully pacifying the country and holding it are different matters altogether."

I am still baffled as to why we would want to 'pacify' or 'hold' it.

Pound it back into the 7th century; destroy all their weapons, plants, and stockpiles--and move on. We have several other islamic terror states to destroy.

Need to pound it back to an age before then just to make sure there's no Islamonazis left.

>>>Somehow, I trust Col. Hackworth's assessment of the situation more than pretty much any civilian's. He's been a supporter of the war...

You're entitled to trust anyone you like and if that includes David Hackworth, so be it. I'll place my trust with Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and the military leadership of Myers, Pace and Franks. These are the men who have the first hand intelligence on all matters concerning the current military endeavor, Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In one recent article, Hack had the audacity to compare Rumsfeld to two failed Defense Secretaries, that being Louis Johnson and Robert McNamara. Such behavior solves nothing and serves no good purpose.

While Hackworth has a unique history and perspective on the US military, along with some personal contacts within the armed forces, he has no influence with the powers that be. And if I'm not mistaken, Hackworth was strongly opposed to the US invading Iraq from the get go.

Hack's constant "doom and gloom" rhetoric has the effect of undermining US leadership in the eyes of the world and isn't good for moral with the troops. Last night on LKL, he fit right in with the other commentators, in condemning the military strategy being employed in OIF. Although I don't always agree with Hackworth, I've enjoyed and respected his opinion on past military conflicts, but on the current military engagement in Iraq, we part ways.

General Franks has a operational warplan that includes the deployment of 300,000 troops in the Iraqi campaign. Franks has said he has no plans to ask for additional troops, over and above ther 300K. The war with Iraq is a mere ten days old. So far, we are kicking ass and taking numbers and I don't see that changing either.

If you want to personally attack me, fine, but be a man and do it to my face, grunt.

Besides, Hackworth didn't make an unpopular observation on LKL last night, he continues to make wrongheaded observations when it comes to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Carry on.

I am not attacking anyone, but I am criticizing the juvenile behavior of some. I would suggest that Freepers act like adults and discuss the relevant issues, and not merely call people names like children do. Issues and ideas are more important than personalities...

Your remarks to Snidely Whiplash were in direct response to a post that he directed to me, over comments I made about Hackworth's appearence on LKL. Did you see LKL?

I'm curious why you found my remarks "juvenile".

Hackworth was never supporter of this war. He wrote a series of hysterical columns opposing any war in the past several monts. Having opposed the war, Hackworth now can't stand to see the U.S. have any success. He's gone off the deep end.

So, it's ok that Col. Hackworth calls Rumsfeld not by his correct name, but uses "RUM FILLED"? That's ok with you?

pound them into hair, teeth, and eyeballs

I don't know which I like better...this current quote or General Curtis LeMay's
(as best I remember) response to the question about why we needed a nuclear arsenal
able to destroy the Earth more than one:
"I want to see the rubble bounce".

(or something to that effect)

It's amazing the media can't grasp this simple concept.

It's because most members of the media aren't smart enough to earn a degree in history.

Otherwise they might have read some stories about the Germans/Nazis in the days leading up
to and after the Normandy landings.

The average German grunt got so traumatized and/or sleep-deprived by the irregular
(and "around-the-clock") bombing that some are recorded as complaining that the
Allies weren't "fighting fair" because they sent their bombers in...not their troops.
(G-d forgive me...I felt REALLY GOOD about their suffering thinking how these
Aryan "Ubermensch" pukes had hoped to crush/enslave all their "inferiors" under their
jackboots...to hear about their suffering from a bunch of mongrel races of the Allies...
"SWEET", as today's kids say!)

Hopefully, the vaunted Iraqi Republican Guard will SOON be crying for their mommas
just like the Germans/Nazis...
