Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

That's incorrect....In respect of the Geneva Convention, any soldier caught concealing his uniform under civilian clothes may be executed immediately. It is a standing rule well known by all S.F.
Any one telling you something different is probably blowing smoke up your leg.

iT MUST BE VERY HARD THERE TO TELL THE GOOD GUYS FROM THE BAD GUYS.
MISTAKES WILL BE MADE.
A BAD GUY SHOOTING AT YOU WITH A GOOD GUY SHIELDING IN FRONT.. MAYBE BOTH WILL BE GONE.
RIGHT CHOICE ? WRONG CHOICE ?
i AM NOT THE ONE THERE.
I WONT SECOND GUESS OUR MILITARY DECISIONS BE THEY IN UNIFORM OR OUT.

Russert is now repeating the WP article about "timelines," "drawn-out fight," etc. Russert has not yet said "quagmire."

He didn't deny the suicide bomber, but said that it was (and I'm paraphrasing) it's a legit battlefield tactic.

Tony Snow:
There are rumors that members of Saddam's family have fled to Syria. Is that true?
Rummy:
It's true that there are rumors.

This rep is getting feisty. He said the Iraqi government can use any weapon they have. Said the old gassing of the Kurds was by CIA agents. This is the Ambassador to the UN. He's practically screaming at Russert and still rocking. He says that everything "bad" (Kurd gassing, citizens as shields etc)is USA propaganda. Says the homicide bombers are simply defending the Iraqi people. This was one of the most interesting Iraqi rantings you will see in recent days. I hope someone pulls a transcript. General Myers now on noted that the Iraqi Rep hesitated for a long time before making a statement on whether Saddam was alive. The Iraqi Rep kept saying this is not about Saddam, thatt is, one or two or three people. He sure seems to have doubts by watching him.

All we needed was a shortie--he has a .22 rifle (on which the iron sights SUCK.) Also 'park-like,' right off some road on the western edge of the installation.
Gave him a bunch of time on my slightly-modified 10/22 and he was happy to push 10 rounds through .50 inch hole at 25 yards.
