Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Were you Navy, too (the carbine)? I was a PBR boat captain. [War story elided] caused me to hang up my .30 M-1 Carbine and get a cumshaw CAR-15. The 30-round mags I brought back fit my stainless Mini-14 :-)

If you guys want to save me from CNN, you are going to have to post this stuff ahead of me... they are coming up with info I'm not seeing here, so just posting what I hear:
- Two Iraqis recruited as suicide bombers surrendered to allies near Basra. Said they didn't want to die for Saadumb (yes - this was on CNN!)
- Royal Marines control 3 sides of Basra; Iraqis the center of the city. (giving them a bolt hole --- we dare them to leave!)
- E-Bomb probably won't be used this war. Yields about 2GigaWatts of microwave power. Afraid we'll hurt civilian targets, and sufficient testing has not yet been done. (this is highly classified, so I suggest very little trust be placed in any public info about E-Bombs)

FNC has panel on now addressing the naysayers, and a specific article in WAPO tomorrow on Rumsfeld is messing up the entire war. I suppose the sources dissing Rummy are the same ones who were leaking war plans for 8 months.
