Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

i'm getting some kind of weird music.....first it sounded like a humming....
More bad news for Iraqi treadheads.
Two U.S. A10 Thunderbolt II aircraft take off from their base in Kuwait March 29, 2003. U.S. Central Command said on Saturday there would be no 'pause' in military operations to oust Iraqi President Saddam Hussein . REUTERS/Russell Boyce

Well, at least one "good guy" stands to gain from Benedict Arnett's mouth:
It's really kicked the post count, and Poser's trying to fill an inside straight, with a 4000!
Hang in there, Dood! A couple more ALCMs downtown, or Belly Girl posting to the thread, wouldn't hurt ;-)

Good point....the torture would only last about 3 seconds anyway.

I'm sure sorting out Tikrit will be easy, probably 100% Baath. Next to Bagdhad, I've heard Tikrit was next toughest. Not for purely military tactical reasons, but because it is a "special" city.
From what I've seen of our adaptation to circumstances, Tikrit will suffer as much damage as the RG wants us to inflict on it. That is, I don't think we'll "hold back," but we might be a little slower ramping up to use of ground force -- maybe a few days of carpet bombing.
To: Howlin
You bet he can do more damage. I believe his propoganda for the regime has put our troops at additional risk.
Imagine being an on-the-fence sort of extremist - his words could easily send that person to Iraq to help the regime and kill our soldiers!
Arnett should be arrested the minute he sets foot on American soil.

Does NBC think we're stupid? What's with this "courtesy interview" excuse they're floating?

I'll take - never. NBC has already started their spin on it and will continue to stand by it being an opinion piece.
To: McLynnan
What else can they say?
Better yet, what will they say tomorrow when the story hits full force?
Remember, we're news junkies. We know it now; the rest of the country won't know it until tomorrow.
To: McLynnan
Yes, they think we are stupid. And to a point, they have a point. Liberals, left-wing idiots, 99% of Dems, DU posters...all stupid.

Ya know, those look like Microwave antennas. They look to have a rotor, and to be tuned for a narrow range of frequencies.
To: Fledermaus
It was the description of the ah, ah, ah...eyes that was the clincher. ;-)
