Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Thanks, I've always read that we did that kind of stuff. We also would have programs changed slightly to give bad calculations. Even 1/10th of one degree in trajectory could make a missile useless.

No, but I seriously wondered in Gulf War I if Arnett was a US Agent?

We don't need any foreign enemies, we have the enemy within As I was driving on the freeway this afternoon ABC News came on the radio at the 1:00 PM (west coast) time. That news report carried two brief clips, one from the Iraqi V.P. declaring that Iraq would defeat the U.S. and one from Tariq Aziz declaring that Iraq would defeat the U.S. Those two reports were balanced (sarc) with a report from, get this, "an unidentifed former intelligence professional who spoke on condition of anonymity" that the plan demanded by Rumsfeld had resulted in the U.S. being "incapable of victory and certain to experience a defeat on a massive scale." That Rumsfeld and Bush were so stupid that they didn't start with forces capable of achieving victory and are now scrambling "due to unacceptable losses and resistance far too strong to overcome."
ABC News is spitting this garbage out every hour on the hour -- and this was a news feed picked up by a conservative radio station!!!
However, the good news is that as I was heading home, in this hotbed of anti-American leftism that I live in, I passed numerous demonstrations in favor of the war against Saddam and backing the troops. This is the third day in a row that the good side has been out in numbers in my town -- actually blown away the anti-war protesters, who previously owned this town without any opposition. So, if the tide is turning here it has to be turning everywhere.

I was thinking a little earlier today (as I was cooking) that since Saddam Hussein's personal bodyguard was seen standing behind the Defense Minister yesterday and in light of the statement put out pentagon sources last night that Baghdad would fall from within instead of without I really am wondering if Saddam may already be dead.
I remember that yesterday Saddam supposedly fired the man in charge of the anti-aircraft fire and today I learned that he is Saddam's cousin. Maybe that Defense Minister is purging the regime of relative's of Saddam. Just makes me wonder.

Thanks for the links. I've just sent emails to both NG and MSNBC.
To: ChadGore
Thank you for the link so I could pass my anti-Arnett sentiment to the powers that employ this piece of $hit!
To: Cboldt
Unless 1) it's not true, or 2) even if it is true, it isn't relevant becuase somebody else will "pick up the slack". If Iraq military believs it, they're more likely to initiate hunting expeditions of their own. Granted, if true. You still don't want your enemy knowing who is still in the fight no matter who picks up the slack.
My tactics might change if I knew it was a new unit was fighting me.

At least the MSNBC cam has a volume control that doesn't lower all my volume. The real player overrides...so I can turn down the MSNBC without turning down RP on CBS.
Can't turn down the RP without turning down my other one.

I wondered at the time what it was all about but didn't email the moderators at Rootsweb and I guess I should have. Not too late. It just might be a just the string someone needs to pull to unravel something...

Thanks.
According to Columbia Journalism Review, GE is part owner of the National Geographic's Cable Channel (isn't that Benedict Arnett's employer?), 25% with National Geographic and FOX!
GE also owns NBC Network, according to that page, and part of MSNBC (joint venture with Microsoft).
We need to ping FNC about Fox's part in this...
