'BRING OUR TROOPS HOME'

'BRING OUR TROOPS HOME'

Former Foreign Secretary Robin Cook has denounced the war in Iraq as "bloody and unecessary" and called on Tony Blair to bring Britain's troops home.

And he warned that Britain and America risked stoking up a "long-term legacy of hatred" for the West across the Arab and Muslim world.

The politician's resignation as Leader of the Commons was the most high-profile political protest against UK involvement in the war.

Mr Cook said President Bush and his defence secretary Donald Rusmsfeld did not appear to know what to do now their hopes that Iraq would swiftly capitulate had proved unfounded.

They appeared to be contemplating laying siege to Baghdad, which would result in massive civilian suffering and many unnecessary deaths, he said.

In the Sunday Mirror, Mr Cook wrote: "I have already had my fill of this bloody and unjust war. I want our troops home and I want them home before more of them are killed."

He attacked Mr Bush for "sitting pretty in the comfort of Camp David" while Allied forces risked death in an "unnecessary and badly planned" war.

"It is easy to show you are resolute when you are not one of the guys in a sandstorm peering around for snipers," he said.

"Nobody should start a war on the assumption that the enemy's army will co-operate. But that is exactly what President Bush has done.

"And now his Marines have reached the outskirts of Baghdad, he does not seem to know what to do next."

Mr Cook also raised concerns that the Iraq campaign could drag on for months and commended the decision to bring back the bodies of slain troops to be buried in Britain.

We could let Saddam and many others like him become more and more powerful, until finally we are bowing down to Allah six times a day with a rifle to our heads. We could wait for the door of our homes to be smashed in, while they drag us off to be tortured for printing this on the internet.

Pray tell, "what is really happening with this "war".

Linda - let me field this one for you if you don't mind me showing a bit of solidarity. What's really happening in this war is that Haliburton, along with Bush and Blair's other crony companies, are waiting in the wings like vultures to descend on all those juicy "reparation" contracts. This is why Blair descended on DC this week with his top ten list of companies to get pieces of this reconstruction.

Makes a person wonder if the Marshall Plan after WWII was just a big scam(?)

And, by the way, in anticipation of all the flames to follow, I am a *rabid* conservative. I just don't happen to be a sucker.

Apparently you don't read from different sources and listen to "right wing" talk radio. I don't think I need to tell you anything. If you can't comprehend the ramifications of this war you are hopeless.

Ramifications

Weakened UN - Good riddance
Stirring the pot exposing more terrorists - Good
Instilling fear in those who may toy with the idea of attacking the U.S. or its allies - Good
Planting the seeds of freedom in the middle of our enemies homeland - Good thing
Demolishing dictators starving their people - Good
P*ssing off France- No words to describe

I have one question for you Linda, why would Free Republic be listed as your home page?

I think you're full of Clinton

I'm certainly riveted. Since the rest of us are far too stupid to know, please tell us. What's *really* happening in this "war"? Is it aliens? Has the Vatican deployed the Swiss Guard? Are pork belly futures in jepardy? Is Bush going to own every corner Texaco station? What? C'mon, c'mon, what? You've got the inside info, don't keep it from the rest of us plebians. We need to know what to put on our protest signs and our police arrest reports. If you don't TELL us, stupid as we are, we won't KNOW!

If you don't TELL us, we have to have inspid signs like "WAR IS STUPID," "WAR ISN'T THE ANSWER" and "NO BLOOD FOR OIL." Never mind assine chants like "Hey ho! Bush's war has got to go!" PLEEEEEEEEEEEESE give us something more intelligent, oh great one!

Linda? Linda?

Halliburton was dropped yesterday by the DoD from the list of companies who will be candidates for rebuilding a free Iraq.

But do keep trying to come up with a plausible argument.

Do you actually think we can take out the entire Arab world because that is exactly what it will come to. Then there is Russia who today has send people to Iraq to protect their interests. China? It is NOT just Iraq. Statements from our government has said Syria is next. Iran axis of evil. North Korea another member of the axis of evil. This is a quagmire that they have put our troops into. I pray for our troops.

And for the record I was a fierce Bush supporter and a devout clinton hater.

Why are the Iraqi's when away from they minders weeping with gratitude at the feet of our troops for removing Saddam?

The only Arabs that need to worry are those that wish to continue supporting terrorists.

Iran will take care of itself in under 4 years. There is revolution in the wind.

Russia needs to decide if they are with us or against us. There is no other option to show that if you "clinton" on the US, you'd better be able to pay the piper.

And your solution is....?

Linda, Linda! This is no time to go wobbly on us. You know darn well that this is no "quagmire" in the making. My God, we've been in there a week! People like you make me think we are suffering from a case of national attention deficit disorder. You sound almost hysteric...

If you haven't noticed there have been 4,000 + plus Jihads declared against us. The fundmentalist Islamofacists don't care if you support Bush or not. They will gleefully kill you and your family and dance in the streets.

There is evil in the world and it is time to shine the light of freedom in these dark reccess and rip it out by the roots.
