Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I love it when Dubya sticks it to those deserving it.

I like Levanthal too. I think they said he's a reserve fighter pilot, so I imagine he fits in pretty well. Except, as John Ringo said a while back he gets a lot of "Welcome to the Infantry, Dude". He was interviewing a supply guy yesterday and asked what the grunts really want and the guy said they really want a beer. Levanthal said HE really wanted a hot shower and the Sarge said "well you can't have that either." It was pretty funny.
I've also been impressed with how GLOOMY Ollie North has been since this all started. I think we are seeing the epitome of a warrior who hates war and my respect for him is greater than ever.

I think people were hammering them on the negatives. We know the terrible feeling of losing someone. Exploiting death during a Mission of Hope is sensationlism. It's why we so loathed the pictures of our captives. It was not about the Geneva Convention, it was about the cruelty of displaying them.

Greg Kelly is a reserve Marine and I heard David Asman say that he takes alot of ribbing, too.

The BBC is extremely positive this morning about the progress in Basra. What happened there? Someone must have had a chat with them. They have been gloom and doom all week.

I have to watch MSNBC on the weekends. Me, too. In fact, the Fox and Friends weekend team is SO stupid, they've forced me to take a peek at CNN.

LOL

I think its the famous British resolve, like during WWII, now they are pissed off, and though they may have a smaller military force their training like for the SAS is regarded as the most intense in the world save possibly the Rusians but after seeing their own coming back in coffins the Britts will most likely be the heroes of the war, wait and see.

I wonder what the media talking points for today are going to be now that the "reuters pause" story has been shot down? Since when do facts get in the way of talking points? In the alternative, they'll put this one on the shelf for a few days, and resurrect one of last week's talking points ("Are we there yet? How many civilians did you kill? What about the market? Is the supply line broken? You haven't found any WMD yet, where are they? etc.)

Failure Of Rumsfeld's 'War Lite' Strategy Leads Allies To Bring In The Heavies What he fails to admit is that the plan ALWAYS had staged troop deplyment of this nature. 100,000 troops to make advance, after advance is done, add another 100,000.
