Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Just a bump for our soldiers. They are operating on little sleep, MRE's, snipers, sand storms, and their thoughts fo their loved ones back home.
I wasn't called to action like this during my three year stint, but I just want to lift a shout out, to those I served with, who I know are still proudly wearing their uniforms.

I heard Rush reading this today. He said it is where all the media got the idea that this was going to be fast and easy.I am so glad you heard him, too. I heard Rush reading something but didn't get the exact quote. I was aware of Miss Marple's suspicion that clinton was a major contributor to the notion of this being a breeze.
To see the press being so rude and hostile to Ari and Rumsfeld, accusing THEM of setting high expectations when they did not is so exasperating. It is doing harm as the press is portraying the administration to their audience as inept at best, when they in fact are doing brilliantly.
Good to see you Spunks.

His fake footage of a "market" being hit by us so blantantly a lie it's not funnyI'm always amused at the huge bandages. One of the "wounded" guys lying in bed did a Bill Clinton. As soon as he saw the camera he started moaning very dramatically.

Well, I'm disappointed their Sgt and company officers aren't having them fill sandbags in front of that machine gun, but I imagine they can get behind their duffel bags soon enough.
Shep Smith on Fox will discuss the issue of Saddam arming children.

You know what light infantry means don't ya?
Ya carry it all on your back ;)
To: An.American.Expatriate
Shep: FoxNews. Saddam is arming 13-14 year old boys. Proof in 10 o'clock (central) segment.
To: hobson

Screaming Eagles standing watch on the supply line above Karbala while the 3 ID marches to the gates of Baghdad?
Wow. This is true shock and awe.

If you were to go to the NY Times website (Don't!), here is the topmost headline and snippet from related article:
Explosion, Said to Be From Missile, Rocks Mall in Kuwait
Some Kuwaiti officials who examined the fragments said they believed the missile was actually an errant American cruise missile.
We'll see, old grey lady, we'll see.

Well, I'm disappointed their Sgt and company officers aren't having them fill sandbags in front of that machine gun, but I imagine they can get behind their duffel bags soon enough. I just heard on FNC that strong wind had pushing them off target, had them marching 6 hours to DZ. That's a ways off. The other thing I found weird was as they were assembling at their rally point, it appeared there was cars driving by on the road right next to them.
I did see video later of them digging in around the airfield I guess it was. Nice sloppy, gooey mud too. The paratrooper with the e-tool in his hand looked real happy.
