Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

We're calling them paramilitary death squads.Death squads would work. Nothing military, that gives them credence.

Iraqis wearing chemsuits is no proof that they have got chemical weapons. Indeed, much like a criminal defendant pleading the 5th is not proof of guilt. However, in the mind of the jury - and permissible under the law - is the inference that the defendant has something to hide.
In this case, the enemy having and/or wearing chemical suits while unloading drums is not "proof" per se - however, the inference remains and is equally permissible.

I have a bit of a tough time getting all worked up with concern about the Iranians feeling like they are caught in a vise. I don't much care what they think about it, either. I was simply noting that their fears are not unfounded. You know we've got folks at the Pentagon right now putting together a plan for the invasion of Iran. (Whether we intend to actually use the plan is another matter....)
The point is, the invasion of Iraq does in fact provide us with a dandy staging area for a subsequent invasion of Iran. It's something we very well may do. We know it, and they know it.

Just saw a clip on MSNBC of Jordonians protesting. Are they any threat to US troops for an uprising? Or are they just being bothersome like American Anti War Protesters?

Wonder if FR could auto-post this link at the top of every page on the thread? Might save a bunch of queries...

Missed the MSNBC story. British guy on FN...poor troops, waiting and waiting and deciding when it's safe to feed the starving Iraqis...ACK. This war isn't for the media's entertainment value. Our guys go in when they have orders to go in.
They also serve who only stand and wait.
We go when it's time to go.

I think we should call them "Paramilitary Murder Squads."
That way, we can use the abbreviation "PMS"
To: AppyPappy
Because the Iraqis have threatened to use Chem weapons.but but but they say they don't HAVE chemical weapons...
I'm looking for something that would convince a lib-uh-rul.
