Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

You are attempting to equate the Iraqis to us. Bad analogy. You are being willfully blind. I am telling you that waving Iraqi chem suits around yelling that it is proof of Iraqi intent to use chemical weapons is misguided.
AppyPappy, you wrote that Iraqis wearing chemsuits is because, "You wear them because you want to limit your exposure when deploying them and when they come back at you." We won't deploy chemical weapons against the Iraqis, yet our forces are wearing chemsuits. There's a disconnect there.
Step outside your jingoism and look from the Iraqi or third-country civilian's perspective. Iraqis wearing chemsuits is no proof that they have got chemical weapons.

They showed the film clip, black and white, no fear on the faces of the supposed spies. FAKE, imho! The Arab world (and the EU!) used the "CIA spies as UN Weapons Inspectors" story to kick inspectors out in '98. Real Iraqi anti-Saddam spies would not be smiling.

And FR wasn't down (at least according to the Yahoo relief site).
Ah, the joys of live TV; Roger Ailes will have this joker's head by the top of the hour.

"Sorry if this has been mentioned, FN guest this morn: we may not hear the term Fedayeen as often from our military PR guys. Fedayeen = "He who would sacrifice himself for a cause" ..gets the jihadists all excited.DoD spokeswoman Tory Clark wouldn't use "Fedayeen" when speaking to the press. She used "terrorist forces" etc. Latest I heard was "Death Squad Terrorist Forces"

We'll let you know if they ever do react...

Reporter asked about this at the CENTCOM briefing. We're calling them paramilitary death squads. I think Gen. Brooks said that they don't know what to call them...they are so vile (vile's mine - he gave examples of 'vile'). There is no PC name for them!

Anyone watching the MSNNBC cam (that has now switched to night vision! BOOO!!!) ?? What is that semi-transparent black mass in the lower right corner?

Thanks. That's the one I have and is back up.
Here's a must read from Victor Davis Hanson:
[Hanson] History or Hysteria? Our vulture pundits regurgitate rumor and buzz.
Instantly televised images are broadcast with no in-depth analysis. A national television audience sighs and cheers second-to-second not unlike the mercurial Athenians lined up on the shore of the Great Harbor at Syracuse, who in dejection and euphoria watched their fleet lose, win, and lose in the sea battle against the Sicilians. But rather than trying to digest and analyze the tempo of battle, our vulture pundits instead regurgitate rumor and buzz which are usually refuted by the next minutes events. The subtext throughout seems to be disappointment that the war so far has lasted seven rather than two days.

If your kids want to take out the sign, you may wish to introduce them to paintball guns (and a little target practice, so that they don't miss the sign...)
They may as well get used to handling weapons.

Why is it that there are so many vehicles on the streets in the middle of the night in Bagdad. Msnbc cam shows a lot of traffic. Maybe that is how they haul munitions to there troops?
