Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Q: we're not trying to harrass families, have you apologized to families. Do you # of enemies killed?
A: we handle this not through media.
Q: tell us, hundreds? thousands?
A; There's no one going around counting bodies. But certainly in the hundreds

I would like to compliment Fox News for having Major Garrett's reports. He roams around the Pentagon and gets answers to qustions and clarifications. I think it is really valuable.

You know, it's funny, but before the Clinton years I could tune into AFN Radio in Germany and listen to Rush (very late!!). After a short time of Clinton, Rush was "replaced" by NPR (or maybe just moved to an even worse slot!!). That is my only contact with NPR and I hated it from day 1. I could never understand why AFN would air such anti-american drivel!
We only got one hour of Rush while we were in Germany and it aired at six in the evening. (they aired all three hours of that racist, Tom Joyner) It was so frustrating until I found out that we could listen to Rush online. I hate NPR too! It never failed to disgust me.

Are there things that haven't been predicted?
Did they actually ask THAT?
I guess every military planner who doesn't recogonize and plan for every possible contingency is just plain short sighted.
What's next? What is your plan if the Martians land in Baghdad and annouce they are fighting for Saddam?
I HATE THE MEDIA!!!

Re. the WSJ, you can try. I was really disheartened to receive an e-mail from the WSJ - after sending out
American in Tokyo's Seoul rally report - telling me to take
letters@wsj.com off my e-mail list...
not a journalist's personal address, but the paper's public access address.
I'm following your suggestion, a good one, to contact local media...and responding to individual journalists re. specific stories, etc., suggestions always welcome. We need to remind our neighbors to contact the media, as well. Most Americans don't think to do this. Our voice has to carry over the thousands of experienced VLWC special interest groups. Check out the Amnesty Int'l website...but bring a barf bag.

Note: The noise you hear on the webcam is the keg party guys moving furniture.I noticed that, too. Reminded me of my college days when I got invited to the Sigma Nu formal and my date was nearly arrested because a group of guys he was with decided to heave furniture out the hotel room window. Thankfully, I was not in the room at the time...

The civs getting out of Basra is great news. Makes it all the easier to nail the creeps that remain in town.

Also, had Turkey not been, well, a turkey, there would be 2 sets of "blow-throughs". Correction, if the Franco-Prussian Axis had not pressured Turkey to deny the US the right of passage, there woeld be 2 sets of "blow-throughs".

FNC mentioned that the military has been getting advice from lawyers like this since 1975 or so

The Holy Day starts soon so you expect that some cats are going to breath their last in the next hour or so. Cue Fariq Sinatra.
