Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

How happy I would be to support some of those black servicemen in Iraq laying their life on the line to defend the nation in some election in the future to replace this worthless bunch of anti-american black politicians we now have in Congress.

He was moaning about racism saying Blacks were being captured at an unacceptable rate!Where in the hell does this guy get his ideas? Is he saying that Iraqis are rastist?

Re. "Seige of Baghdad"...probably more details at Pentagon briefing. CENTCOM guys don't like to talk about operational plans.

Ok, I will. I wasn't sure if it was you or her who posted it. I think the admin mod is deleting them before locking the thread :-(

Tony says the time to second guess is about 5 years from now. Good for him!Quite logical.

I don't know about Iraq's ratification or lack thereof, but of the major Geneva Conventions, the only one that the US has not either signed or ratified is the 1977 Protocols.

No, that is not correct.
The US did not ratify the 1977 extensions to the Convention, otherwise, all previous ones HAVE been ratified.
Status of Iraq? I have heard though that they did (no proof)

...if they are talking siege, then we are probably really doing a commando snatch and lightning assault. Those that know are not talking and those who talk - we'll you know the rest...

The msnbc cam is great in color. I just can't get over the amount of traffic - the propaganda machine must be running at full speed and the Iraqi citizens are unaware of current events.

From the referenced article:
Both Bilal and his former wife have said in interviews that they believe Akbar is the target of discrimination because of his race and his religion. I just don't get this. Did they miss this part of the story: HE THREW GRENADES INTO TENTS OF SLEEPING OFFICERS AND KILLED TWO OF THEM!! How is that being set up? AAAHH!! That's infuriating!!
To: steveegg
How does Brooks keep on drawing the short straw?I'm guessing it has something to do with this:
Lt. Gen. John Abizaird, CENTCOM briefing, Mar.23: "You're from Al Jezeera? I'm very disappointed that you would portray those pictures of our servicemen." "I regard the showing of those pictures as entirely unacceptable."
Thank you, Lt. Gen. Abizaird!

No, he was saying that the military is racist for sending them to the front. Just a nonsensical statement by a democrat trying to curry favor at home.

The msnbc cam is great in color. I just can't get over the amount of traffic - the propaganda machine must be running at full speed and the Iraqi citizens are unaware of current events. I'm watching MSNBC cam 6 where David Bloom is eating some food and the 3rd is in the background.
No audio though! Does anyone know if MSNBC cam 6 will provide audio if Bloom reports live to NBC or MSNBC?

I know! It always shocks me, too. Plus, people walking out on the street. Well, apparently the buses are still running. Those two people just got picked up by the Baghdad Rapid Transit System.
