Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I heard a brief report on Fox this morning that Saddam had numerous back-ups for his television capabilities. Someone may have been paying better attention than I and might add some details.

Ragtime Cowgirl, do you remember a picture from the other day with a soldier sitting in a humvee and the flag was blowing past him? It got deleted off of that thread and I haven't been able to find it since. Why was it deleted?

REPELLED off the bridge when confronted. This was the term they used, as if they slid down ropes from the superstructureI believe the word would be "Rappeled" if they were descending by ropes. "REpelled" on the other hand could mean they ran away. Interesting. Keep us informed

I think he is the latter--said that "we didn't war game for this". yeah, I imagine he's re-thinking his words at this point.
Did anybody hear if Rummy actually said something at the informal presser he and Myers did yesterday about the possibility of a Baghdad seige being looked at? I heard a quick statement on TV today that he said that.
However, I was surprised there were no questions about it at CentCom, so don't know if it'a true.

RE: cell phones
Can we use them to "zero in" and place a nice little bomb where they go?

Tony Snow says the answer to many of these questions is "God knows, contact him." Great quote! Humanitarian aid held up again - patriot porpoises discovered new mines. Saddam's regime continues to endanger the Iraqi people...

Hi!
Is it correct that the Geneva Convention wasn´t ratified neither by Iraq nor by the US?

Morning, glock. Sky reporting that Iraqis fire on civilians trying to flee Basra. The talking point of the day is (following Gen. Wallace's remarks) is that our supply line is stretched too thin and we don't have enough troops to win this war.
The whispering is that Rummy overruled the generals with his quick deployment paradigm.
Oh, and we suffered hugh losses--a drone was captured and some cell phones.

I'm not for sure, but I think they are deleting larger pictures off of the older threads. There was nothing offensive in it. You only saw maybe half of his face and his arm I think.

He was moaning about racism saying Blacks were being captured at an unacceptable rate!Where in the hell does this guy get his ideas?

Nice wrap-up of the CentCom briefing. How does Brooks keep on drawing the short straw?

Can we use them to "zero in" and place a nice little bomb where they go?I guess if the batteries haven't run down?

But correspondents in the region say people are wary of rebelling after an uprising following the 1991 Gulf War was suppressed brutally by Saddam Hussein. Many Iraqis felt they had been betrayed by the West after having been encouraged to revolt, they say.More support for doing things right the first time.

FN: Artillary shell detonated in Arbil, Iraq sending up white smoke. Locals believe it may have been an attempt to fake a chem. attack and panic the locals.
Who deleted that pic! (^: Ask Rummychick...she has a supply.
