London, March 27 -- Saddam Hussein's first wife Sajida, mother of Uday and Qusay reportedly left for Damascus along with his daugthers Raghad, Rana and Hala, a few days before the bombing of Baghdad.
She is staying with the Iraqi Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Rafat Al Ani, claims the Daily Mail.
The paper attributes its information to Saddam's former minister of protocol Haitham Rashid Wihaib, who now lives in London. It adds the women left with three lorry loads of possessions and 60 bodyguards.
According to the report, Saddam Hussain has made extensive arrangements to "flee Iraq". He has sold off property to rich Iraqis and valuables in various countries to "raise millions in cash for his own exile". The transactions have been made in dollars and deposited outside Iraq.
The Daily Mail claims several senior ministers including Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz have also sent their families to Syria. Saddam Hussain and the ministers plan to join their families when Baghdad falls.
The information adds that an aeroplane is on a 24- hour standby to fly out the Iraqi leader. The report claims that the families could flee undetected because they had shifted close to the border much before hostilities started.
Wihaib has been quoted as saying, "He(Saddam) knows it is only a matter of time before he is defeated... and he has made sure for a very comfortable exile".
He predicts that the war will be over within the next two weeks. But Wihaib stressed that Saddam will never be captured alive. He has ordered his guards to shoot him if he fails to get away.

There was an article yesterday that postulated that Saddam Hussein may have died of his cancer a few years ago and that all the body doubles were a ruse to maintain power. It's a real possibility.

........Syria...... From what I know, these idjits could easily have been included in 'The Axis of EVIL'. Truthfully, I think it's Lebanon thats a province of Syria, for all intents and purposes.

It is a program that supplies the jihadists with soiled diapers, if there's falls or gets shot off.

Any Iraqi's who survive the war and are found to have committed war crimes or crimes against humanity probably should be held accountable by some type of international organization. The UN is a shot in the dark, though. Especially being that the big creep sugar bubba hasn't been brought before the UN for his crimes against humanity and his traitorous actions against America. Shoot, he may even end up leading the frickin' organization. SOP for the internationalist community though.

Kinda' sad.
You'd think Saddam would at least send them to live in Paris with Arafat's wife and daughter.
Heck, living in Damascus...you might as well have sent them to the panhandle of Oklahoma.
(I say this with a chuckle as an Okie...)

I hope that all parts of this story that can be confirmed are broadcast LONG AND OFTEN
in the Iraqi world.
Saddam sends his family members out of the country...so much for standing with "His People".
At least the Royal Family didn't bug out of England during their dark hours in WWII
(I'm no expert, but that's been what I've read; although I know some children and
family members of the civilian population were sent away to safer areas, even to Canada)
