Perhaps some Iraqi will want to show an 'independent' reporter just how cleverly they hide their WMD's..... and give them a tour of the tourture chambers and record them gloating qbout the things they've accomplished in the name of the state. *sigh*

Don't forget Elite. One would think with all the 'Elite' troops saddam has he would rule the world.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I think this may call for a separate thread. :)

Daschle-speak! I propose a moratorium on the words "concerned", "disappointed" and especially on "QUAGMIRE".

I like the word QUAGMIRE. A quaqmire is what the DEMONcrats have fallen into.

How many "embedded" reporters are their in Washington, D.C.? Don't you think their familiarity with their sources will color their "objectivity"? I wonder how many of them Mr. Gabler considers "patsies"?

Absolutely excellent point. Dem reporters are always schoozing with Lib Dem lawmakers, but then are somehow supposedly able to keep their "objectivity". Yeah, right!!

Did Rutten use this term"patriotic pornography"

If so, he should be freeped. That is disgusting to say that about what FNC is doing with their news. Oh by the way, the soldiers primarily watch FNC. I wonder why!

I've thought this was an excellent idea from the "git-go".

Gee, you make it sound so, but it's well known that Bush is a dummy, and his Generals are too stupid to take over a whole country in three days. So how could they possibly be so clever?!?!

This Salon allegation is nothing. The regular run-of-the-mill leftists are even more wacked out in their beliefs on this. Check out this post to the once-useful-but-long-since-degenerated-into-crypto-socialist Cypherpunks list (all laughable typos are their own):

Subject: Re: U.S. Drops 'E-Bomb' On Iraqi TV

at Thursday, March 27, 2003 6:36 AM, *** was seen to say:
there is a lot of self imposed sensor ship in US on the war.The Us pows's shown on al-jazeera were not broadcasted over Us and those sites which had pictures of POW's were removed as unethical graphics on web pages.
May be the US itself might be stopping access to al-jazeera networks.

It certainly sounds probable. All the US and UK coverage is being very carefully stage-managed - all reporters are "embedded" into units for a reason - they are permitted to film what they are told, when they are told, and striking out on your own (or using a uplink to upload "raw" news to the newsroom carries the death penalty - as the ITN crew found out.
Having a "raw" source of news - particularly one that carries pictures of young children being pulled from the rubble minus their legs - cannot possibly be tolerated. That isn't to say *that* source isn't biassed as well - try finding pro-COW coverage, and there must be at least some of the pro-COW coverage that our major media puts out that isn't faked.....

There you have it. The ITN journalist was assassinated by the US for daring to go unembedded. The Truth Cannot Be Hidden From The People!!! *rolling eyes*

>>>>>>They could wear day-glo suites to distinguish them from the other mere mortals. That would allow them free flow through the lines. It's an exciting concept that may have arrived.<<<<<<<

LMCO! I would think that the Day Glo suits could be enhanced by a series of multi colored concentric rings, front and back, with a large solid neon red circle at mid torso in the center of the circles. This distinctive pattern would clearly identify the tar, er, journalists, allowing them to move with complete freedom between both armies...

"In the U.S., Fox News simply has wrapped itself in the flag and makes no effort to distinguish between its journalism and the U.S. war effort," says Rutten. "Fox executives can be pleased that their approach has allowed the network to hold the lead in cable news ratings; the rest of us can be relieved that viewers who want that sort of thing will be too busy having their prejudices confirmed to bother the rest of us."

Ummm.. if the objective of commercial news sources is to get people to watch and thus get better ratings, it stands to reason that this should be the business decision all of them should be making. Right?

Last Sunday's screaming headline in the Houston Comical was "ALLIED CASUALTIES MOUNT". The Comical, an unabashedly slanted leftist rag, is doing its best to spread alarmist left-wing propaganda.

Sluts ! Any wonder why we don't bother with their garbage ?

JohnHuang, this embedded journalism is freaking one of my lefty friends out. As I posted on another thread: You know, I've started hearing the words "embedded journalists" from a friend of mine who's become influenced by her very strange husband. She and her husband think that CNN is full of nothing but embedded journalists and that she's not hearing the "truth" about the war or the United States.

She told me yesterday that she's searching for the truth in various peace organizations and Howard Zinn. I quickly did a search on freerepublic and emailed her some articles on how Zinn is a radical liberal and that many peace organizations are funded by communist groups. Not too sure if she'll speak to me again. But I find her and her husband very scary...he's got a psychological hold on her that I've never seen. It's as if she has no mind of her own. If any of you know of good sites that tell the real truth about Zinn & peace movements, pls let me know. Political beliefs aside, I'm also worried for her mental health."

Seems their just afraid that the reporters will identify with the young American fighting men and women. I mean after all who wants to believe that a group of mostly young, mostly dedicated, interesting, fun, and funny people can fight a war. Please! The embedding is the best thing to ever happen to journalism.

You can take the most far left reporter possible and put them with 10 GI Joes...and within six weeks...that reporter will be thinking and acting like the GIs. The reporter will respect them. He will understand their troubles. He will report exactly what he sees. I don't see a problem here. I think reporters ought to be in units and report the truth. We have nothing to lose. Special Ops is different...and in their operations, you can't have reporters around. But I'm all for this.
