I am certain the water will be tested immediately, and if any suspicious contaminants are in it they will announce it.

We have not had control of Basra so the burden would be on the Iraqis, not us.

On the other hand, the Arab press makes stuff up about us anyway, so whatever happens is probably immaterial.

I still think we should take out Al Jazeera.

UPI reports:

Australian Prime Minister John Howard criticized U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan for calling on all sides involved in the Iraq conflict to protect civilians.

"Please examine the relative behavior of the British and the Americans and the Iraqis," he told Parliament. "Any suggestion of moral equivalence between the coalition and the Iraqis on this occasion, I totally reject."

CNN first. Al Jazeera is balanced by comparison.
