Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

There are many differences - sadly a few similarities (like the old tired freaks from the 60's & 70's out protesting). In Vietnam we didn't take ground and hold it and our objective wasn't crystal clear. The jungle is the best place for non-conventional warfare that makes a conflict drag on. The Vietnam war went on for a long time before the anti-American protest movement got big enough to make a difference. Our objective in Iraq is very clear. The desert makes it hard to hide and even if we end up fighting house to house the war will be over realtively quickly. Sadly there is one more similarity between Iraq and Vietnam during both conflicts the three big network news agencies sided with the enemy. One more thing when our guys come home from this war we will be hugging them instead of spitting on them like those flithy protestors did to our Nam vets.

Knowing the anti-american Liberals, they are probably embarassed and ashamed that Canadian troops are standing alongside the allies.

...Juan Williams on Fox said that Clinton was obviously trying to set up Bush, when he said this-as as a former CinC,he had to know it wouldn't be a cakewalk. Is anyone really that shocked that Clinton would do something despicable (sp?)??

We regularly have troops serving with U.S. and British groups both in training missions and deployments. When the Brit and American units went in they stayed with them. The bulk of our folks are on the ships in the Gulf, close to 2000 I believe once the ships currently on route get there. The maritime patrols are commanded by a Canuck (was supposed to be on the Iroquois before it had to turn around due to the chopper incident).
D*mned Chretien is trying to have it both ways. Gets to flap his snippy little Liberal feathers as "independent" yet without acknowledging it send the troops. I can only imagine the morale hit on our folks when they hear him and his venal, small minded, arrogant, petty, childish, dispicable, cowardly, ignorant, worthless (have I forgot any?) MP's spout off like the spoiled namby pamby brainless brats that they are.
I utterly loathe our Prime Minister and curse him for what he and the (insert previous insults here) Liberals have done to my country.

They all seem to have the same talking points on a daily basis.Indeed they do. I heard this as well from the local (CT) radio babbler.
We are supposed to be running out of water too.
To: Solson
LMAO! There should be a warning for that one!

So, I'm at home and back up...
just watched the combover dude in CNNi address the UNSC - Negroponte just went WAY up in my list of favorites. Walked out in the middle of that disgusting bit of hypocritical pontification.
Anything else interesting during the last 2 hours??

It must be especially difficult having lived through this as the wife of a Vietnam veteran. I'm glad your Mom finds comfort (truth) here at FR.
I sometimes think Vietnam veterans went through what they did on the homefront so that the rest would learn never to do that again to our troops. Even the vast majority of dopey peaceniks say "I support the troops!" today. Your mom's suffering was not in vain. We will not forget the sacrifices of those who serve.
We now have FoxNews and FR, and the mainstream media's gone overboard. Walter Cronkite is no longer the most trusted man in America.
Freepers are good company:
You can't live your life by PR... the US is damned if we do and damned if we don't. You do what is right and continue on...
We are doing this because on 9/11, 3,000 people went to work... and never came home! Remember them... and forget the world.

Apparently Jesse Jackson showed up at the UN todayI was just waking up from a nap when I heard that, so please confirm for me that I heard the report correctly. Jesse Jackson and a group of "other religious leaders" (gag) are demanding that we take a time out from the war???

Looks like Al-Jazeera is showing 'new' footage of Saddam, supposedly from today....
