We will not confirm their presence while we are fighting their army. If we confirm them and show them to the world, there's then absolutely no reason for the Iraqis to hold back on using them. The Iraqis want the doubt to remain -- because they are still playing for a political settlement through the U.N. (they have no chance, but that's not what they think). Then, with the doubt, and with a "failed" invasion, the Iraqis can continue to try and claim the political high ground and go back to their games. That is what the Iraqis are thinking.

We want the doubt to remain, because it will keep the Iraqis playing that game -- because if the doubt is gone, then the Iraqis might as well just fire them off. We would rather they hold them for us to capture suddenly, rather than take away any reason for them not to use them.

Am I correct in assuming that you trust Saddam's word more than the word of a fundamentalist Christian or a Zionist Jew?

BACK OFF JACKASS. Of course not. I'm making an obvious point that JP or CBN breaking this is better propaganda value for the Islamofascists than anything Saddam could hope for.

He may be reporting a rumor, but he's right on the spot.

The problem is, the reporter on the spot doesn't have the tools to know what's inside the thing. Even if its a real chemical warhead, it might be empty.

The other news outlets got burned when they reported finding a chemical plant the other day. They're not going to stick their necks out again.

I expect that by tomorrow this story will be totally discredited or it will be FUBAR.

That's not necessarily true. If we reveal them, the tide of world opinion might swing a bit. That could make it more clear to RG commanders that using the stuff is a very bad idea.

>>>whats CBN news?

Canadian Broadcasting News. The last guy you would think would report chemical weapons found. They are so left wing, they look like they are laying down when on-air.

So taking this with a grain of salt doesn't mean that you find Saddam more credible than the reporter.

Thanks. Semper Fidelis.

Wonder how soon the "testing" of these weapons will be completed?

But the correspondent is embedded with the 3rd ID, so maybe....

I think that's where Fox News Channel's Greg Kelly is as well. You'd think we'd hear it from them too. I'm skeptical.

The Iraqis are saying it’s the judgment of Allah upon the attackers. Are we finding any bright spots in it for the American troops?

And when the skys suddenly clear up the Iraqis will say... "Oh, sh_t... Allah changed his mind. He now wants the coalition forces to wipe us out..."

That Allah thing and the weather can be tricky.

Off the subject, but funny....

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police arrested two Nobel Peace Prize winners along with more than 30 other people protesting on Wednesday near the White House against the U.S.-led war against Iraq.

What I just heard from a highly placed source here is that they've discovered, they've captured chemical warheads, they're Russian, they have Russian writing all over them and they are chemical warheads.

So, bottom line - he didn't see these himself. He heard about it from some other guy (probably an officer eg "highly placed source.) And undoubtably the officer did not ID these warheads himself. He heard it from somebody else. Let's get realistic - if the shells had Russian writing, on what basis are they "chemical warheads"?

Yeah, these might be the smoking gun. Or they might just be plain old artillary shells provided by the Russians.
