"Untrue. What about Israel? "
Israel dropped woman from combat roles in the early 1980s. Women still serve in the Israeli army in non-combat roles.

A story I heard from my retired AF brother was that in the '73 war Israel's women in combat tended to be MORE brutal than the men--more often killing prisoners and such. This is supposed to be why they were kept from combat later.
Seeing as how someone smaller and more vulnerable would logically feel more threatened, (especially by Arab men), doesn't seem like an irrational response of such women.
In a volunteer force, I would have less problem with women in combat IF (which will never happen) they were asked to meet the same physical standards as the men... those very few Amazons that made it would probably make fine soldiers.
Like I said, that won't happen....and the politically correct weakening of our forces does exist.
Current Israeli policy seems to have followed the PC bent, allowing women wherever they want in combat...due (surprise!) to a court decision.
