Baghdad, March 26
Iraqi state television and another channel run by President Saddam Hussein's son were knocked off the air on Tuesday evening by coalition air raids on Baghdad, TV sources told AFP.
Iraqi satellite television was still broadcasting normally. The latest raids came around 2115 GMT on Tuesday. State TV as well as the youth channel run by Saddam's elder son Uday went off the air shortly after AFP reporters in the capital heard explosions from the raids.

I heard on 770 WABC last night (Batchelor and Alexander) that Iraq was using a day-care center as a shield for the TV Station. Is it possible that this was a commmando raid?

I believe they took out a power plant or electric station that provided electrical feed to the station. I'm looking for more info. But tonight, the lights are out in Baghdad!

Get the reporters out. Tell us when the war is over. Forget what France and the war-protesters think. Get out of the UN. Put the UN blgd on skids and float it to Switzerland or Belgium or ....
Public opinion is not worth one GI.
Support our troops with prayer to our almighty God - let allah take care of the evil regime and its supporters.

I see a new Dish Network commercial.

I'm wondering if this is connected to the reports that Iraqi soldiers are donning US uniforms and executing Iraqi soldiers that surrender to them. Possibly this was the last straw? US didn't want *this* propaganda in particular to be played out on TV.

US didn't want *this* propaganda in particular to be played out on TV. Yeah, this seems the most likely explanation... It demonstrates that the United States Military Might is in control of the theatre and allowed them to broadcast at their convienience.

Sounds like Iraq TV is off-air again. Listening to Lester Holt live on MSNBC.
