If we are going to show footage like that, we have no right to complain about the footage taken by Iraqi TV.

The Iraqi filming was done and distributed by the Iraqi government. That is a violation of the Geneva Convention.

CBS filming something on the spot is not something done or distributed by the American government, as CBS is a private corporation. So it is not a violation of the Geneva Convention.

Playing devils advocate, can't a very similar point be made that reporters that are traveling with US units are doing so with the permission of the US government? It is a fine line I know.
