Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Chip Reid reporting that they are taking on gunfire from a small group that wants to slow them down by playing hit and run off in their little truck. Thinks it is the militia.

yes.
this is the problem with the batchelor and alexander show. their sources often conflict each other! but they have interesting sources and put it all out there on the line, unfiltered. you have to take it for what it is.

"I read somewhere that we could see a dime on a sidewalk with something, planes, satellites?" Would that be Reagan's Star Wars?

Rick's going to be picking sand out of his nose for 6 months after he gets home, so I doubt the beach is high on the vacation planner either.

Would bump some more, but have to go to bed.

Probably a U2. There's just too much atmosphere to get that precise from space. I'm not buying the license plate thing. In any case, that kind of telescope isn't any good at all through smoke and haze like they now have in Iraq. As a graduate of the Navy Photo Intel school, I 'buy' the license plate thing. Agree that circumstances and conditions might get in the way, but under good conditions... the results are, umm... astounding.

FYI Just checked and it appears that "Belly Girl" has not been picked as a name by any FReepers. Of course not !!! Just because Chelsea was photographed holding the sign to piss off her parents, doesn't mean she would dare go to a FReepers thread - she knows some of you are smart enough to "find her"

Maybe I'm just dreaming, but it is my hope that the POWs will discover that they were treated better by the Iraqis than they have ever been treated by the very people who are supposed to be protecting them on the battlefieldYou need a functioning brain in order to dream so you must be on life support, most likey in the form of food stamps and government checks.
