Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

That was beautiful , that new daddy calling home to hear about his 4-day old little girl. First baby, too.
Now they're talking to a mother who was able to talk by phone with her injured son. Good stuff.
I must add this, though. Once the rough stuff starts, these embeds need to become "eyes only", not inserting themselves into the situation like this.

Im Arnet's defense, he was doing his report and the injured guy saw that he was on camera and asked if he could use Bob's phone so his mom wouldn't worry when she saw the video.

Having someone with your patrol that is not trained on how to react to ambushes, contact etc. is asking for problems in my opinion.

Married men can not be poster boys. Nope. Bruce Willis, volunteering to help Laura Bush with the foster kids program after being turned down for more dangerous and "manly" duty overseas...classy guy. Antonio Banderas in
Zorro - the last time I gave Hollywood much thought (married, I know). Our men in uniform...poster boys all. Is Greg Kelly, Marine out of water, single? (^:
Didn't William Bennett write a book about this subject titled Why We Fight?

EXPERTS are examining suspected Scud missiles discovered by British soldiers searching a chemical plant outside Basra. A number of the grey-painted rockets, about 23ft long, were found in the Dirhamiyah petro-chemical plant close to Iraqs second city.
Hmm... If they're only 23ft long, they're not Scuds. I haven't measured one personally, but they're at least 40-50 feet long.

I did too, then I read on here that it was just wind.

This guy has my vote for Situation Poster Hunk because he has the flag too. Though I do like the guy standing on the rocks.
We could always do the original picture of this one that didn't have so quite a yellow stream on it..bahahahhahahah

I missed a lot here. Who is reporting we're within 20 miles of Baghdad?
Also, the Karbala "gap" was forced last night. What is the latest?

What's the yield difference in 5-10 MOAB's and a battlefield nuke?
To: justshe
I heard this on Dennis Prager today:
Somewhere on the battle field in Iraq there was a US military surgeon imbedded with a unit. A heated battle had just taken place and there was, among the wounded soldiers, one that was critical, with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
They quickly set up a makeshift tent and emergency surgery was performed. The soldier was stabilized and flown to a hospital where he is expected to survive. This person was an Iraqi soldier.
This story will never be told on Al Jazeera or in any other Arab news media. This is the United States Military in action.

Have we heard anything about those dams at Karbala? (Silly question, I'm sure). I'm virtually certain we got Special Ops guys in there, perhaps even before A Day.
