Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; News/Current Events; War on Terror

I don't remember exactly how I found this place. Yeah, looks like I jumped on the bandwagon early.

Fred on Brit's roundtable calls the press (NOT the embedded reporters but these nutcases at the briefings) WEENIES.

I heard a view that it's good to maybe keep them up because it shows the leadership all happy and such when the people know it's not the truth.
But that was just one guys opinion on Fox...McInterny (sp) I think.

Keep in mind that Iraqi TV has so far said nothing about capturing the helicopter, only the pilot and gunner.

There's a technical term "Recission"(???) whereby the Pres simply does not send the check. Thanks! This is one of the reasons why I love FR!
But GWB is a big-spender-type. Not likely to cut back too soon.

I read, though, that the last time we executed a soldier for battle field action like Ackbar was in WWII before they created the Military Justice system.

Was it through the "Whitewater Files" on Drudge's site? That seems to be how most people found FR early on.

Please excuse my absence, I was "under the weather".
Fur ball caught in my throat.

Betcha it was Private Eddie Slovick (sp) in WW2. Who played him in that movie? The name escapes me. Hmmmm..... That was for desertion, not treason. Martin Sheen?

Tape spliced in 57 places or so, he congratulated a general who had surrendered, later that was questioned. Seems it is a fake, I think. One thing for sure, nothing is for sure.

I heard a view that it's good to maybe keep them up because it shows the leadership all happy and such when the people know it's not the truth. Yes, I've heard that, too. I see merit in both scenarios and will trust Franks to make the call.

Of course Fred is in agreement with me. I am running the war from my computer room in the Midwest, you know. Cleverly disguised as a mild-mannered housewife, I am really the premier military strategist for the Pentagon. I just live here because the cost of living is cheaper and I am frugal.

Your welcome! I just got in from WORK and this was the first post that welcomed me back to FR. (notice newbie hasn't been back?)
By the way, I thought that the job of moderator had been filled. ;0)

You know, I want to say I heard about it from someone (Liberty here at FP) on Compuserve's GOP Forum.
Can't be 100% sure. I was thinking he was talking about a get together in the Nashville area for FP'ers and mentioned it in the forum so I checked it out.

Sorry...that wa desertion. Gosh darn, I can't remember the name of that actor, either....

Fox - Pentagon says heaviest firefights likely to come in the next 24 hrs. Concern that they'll use CW.
