Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
That's really cool. How can I find that link? I'm deaf myself and would love to check it out.
BTW, let me grab this opportunity and report some good news to everyone. First, let me tell you a little bit of history for those who may not be aware of it. I've been trying to get Fox News to start captioning their news 24/7. Never got an answer and never got any action taken. Even asked some Freepers to email them which of course they did. Aren't Freepers the best?
Okay, now for the good news. Fox News is the ONLY news channel that has captioned their news continuously since Operation Iraqi Freedom began! I have emailed them thanking them and encouraging them to keep the 24/7 captioning up even after the war is over. I've emailed my deaf friends and my family asking them to do the same. Would you Freepers be willing to email them and thank them for captioning their news 24/7 and ask them to keep it going from here on out. If they do so, they would become the first news network to do that. They would most certainly gain deaf viewers if they did this.
I would like to thank those Freepers for their emails to Fox News asking them to start the 24/7 captioning and thank Freepers in advance for emailing them with their thanks. We need to bombard them with emails and let them know we appreciate it.
Here's the email address: viewerservices@foxnews.com
Thanks again, Freepers!!
Well of course, I don't know but I have read several theories on a few threads. One being that they caught us by surprise having moved AAA further south. Another freeper stated the landing site was hardly disturbed indicating a controlled landing from possible mechanical failure. If we were caught with our guard down (as with the surrender that turned fatal in An Nasiriyah), I'm sure we are adjusting war plans.
Sheesh, I am skimming posts here so missed his last little comment about whether North was telling the truth.
Well, last week when President Bush addressed the nation our local (Tucson) news showed the troops at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base watching. The local camera crew panned to the tv they were watching and lo and behold it was on Fox.
Great post!
Of course the answer to that question depends on which war you are talking about. About Iraq in particular, read any of the books by Kanan Makiya such as _Republic_of_Fear_ and _Cruelty_and_Silence_. Nothing else needs to be said that those books do not already say. He lays down the reasons better than I ever could.
If you are talking about the larger war touched off by 9/11. Again, I think the reasons are evident and I do not need to go into them. Never forget those who died AND those who killed them.
